How have your experiences in the NOHS Band program helped you grow as a person?

OR

How will you use your talents and experiences gained from the NOHS Band program to inspire your future musical plans?

My experiences in the NOHS Band program have significantly helped me grow as a person, changed me for the better, and started me on the path to becoming a great leader as well as friend. The first thing that comes to mind when I think about the band program at NOHS is class. I remember coming to my first marching band practice the summer before my freshman year and being told that we are a classy band, and that we represent an entire district, an entire school, an entire organization, as well as ourselves. This mindset stuck to me almost immediately when I realized how special the NOHS band program really is. From those very first moments, it became clear that not only is it important for me do my best in everything I do, but to help those around me stay on track, to see the bigger picture, and remember that we are better together. This leads me to my next point. A big part of the NOHS band program is unity. I have never been part of a more inclusive and welcoming family, than when I joined the marching band. There were and still are so many people that influence my life every day, whether they are fellow students, staff members, booster members, band parents, and more. Each part of the NOHS Band family means so much to me and those around me that I really can grasp what it means to be united. Finally, the NOHS Band program has provided me with countless opportunities to be a leader, as well as a performer, and it has helped me find my true love for music. Throughout my years in the program, I have jumped at every opportunity to perform with the band including: Christmas tree lightings, NOE and CVIS performances, and more! Additionally, when given the opportunity to be part of the band council, and take part in band boosters, it showed how much bigger the whole program is than many people may see on the outside; and how important it is to each and every one of us. I did my best and gave it my all the four wonderful years that I spent in the NOHS Band program, and I hope to find a family just a great in the next couple of years to come.
