Plant Classification

Cattleya Alliance

1) Cattleya Alliance Species. Species of Cattleya, Laelia, Guaranthe, Rhyncholaelia, Broughtonia, Brassavola, Myrmecophila, Barkeria, Epidendrum, Encyclia, Prosthechea, and other species.

2) Cattleya Alliance Hybrid – Large flower. Standard sized Cattleya Alliance hybrids, plants generally over 6 inches in height, flowers generally over 4 inches across.

3) Cattleya Alliance Hybrid – Small flower. Mini sized Cattleya Alliance hybrids, plants generally under 6 inches in height, flowers generally under 4 inches across.

Best flower from classes 1-3 will be awarded a Rosette.

Cypripedium Alliance

4) Cypripedium Alliance Species - Species in Cypripedium, Paphiopedilum, Phragmipedium, Selenipedium or Mexipedium.

5) Cypripedium Alliance Hybrid - Any hybrids in the Alliance.

Best flower from classes 4-5 will be awarded a Rosette.

Vanda Alliance

6) Species of Vanda, Ascocentrum, Phalaenopsis, Sarcochilus, Renanthera, and other Asian Vandaceous plants

7) Species of Angraecoid plants, including Angraecum, Aerangis, Jumellea, and other African Vandaceous plants.

8) Hybrids involving Phalaenopsis.

9) All other Vandaceous hybrids.

Best flower from classes 6-9 will be awarded a Rosette.

Oncidium Alliance

10) Oncidium Alliance Species. Species of any member of the alliance, including but not limited to Oncidium, Tolumnia, Miltonia, Miltoniopsis, Brassia, Odontoglossum, Cochlioda, Psychopsis, etc.

11) Oncidium Alliance Hybrid – Large flower. Large hybrids, generally over 10 inches tall except for the inflorescence.

12) Oncidium Alliance Hybrid – Small flower. Small hybrids, generally under 10 inches tall except for the inflorescence.

Best flower from classes 10-12 will be awarded a Rosette.

Dendrobium Alliance

13) Dendrobium Alliance Species. Species of Dendrobium, Eria, Dockerilla, or other relatives.

14) Dendrobium Alliance Hybrid. Hybrid Dendrobiums

Best flower from classes 13-14 will be awarded a Rosette.

Pleurothallid Alliance

15) Pleurothallid Alliance Species. Species of Masdevallia, Dracula, Pleurothallis, Stelis, Restrepia, etc.

16) Pleurothallid Alliance Hybrid. Hybrids from the Pleurothallid Alliance.

Best flower from classes 15-16 will be awarded a Rosette.

Miscellaneous Orchids

17) Species that don't fall into categories above.

18) Hybrid miscellaneous orchids.

Best flower from classes 17-18 will be awarded a Rosette.

Miniatures

19) Any plant with flower less than 1/2 inch, and plant size less than 4 inches tall, even if it fits into a category above.

Best flower from class 19 will be awarded a Rosette.

Roger Easton Award (chosen by Board)

20) Best specimen plant grown by the exhibitor for at least 6 months prior to show will be awarded a trophy. (No entry required.)
