PUPPETS, XXI CENTURY - one-of-a-kind performance of never-seen-before constructional types of animated objects for children and family audience. Nikolai Zykov - actor, director, artist, designer, puppet-maker, master puppeteer, author of over 20 puppet performances. Nikolai Zykov has received the awards of many festivals including the Arts Innovation Award of Shanghai Arts Festival. Puppets of Nikolai Zykov took part in many popular TV shows in Russia and abroad. Nikolai Zykov has performed his puppet shows more than 3'500 times in more than 40 countries of Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America.

NIKOLAI ZYKOV THEATRE

Nikolai Zykov was born in 1965 in Moscow and began making puppets for his performances in 1977. In 1980, Nikolai Zykov made his first own puppet vignette. In 1985, he created his first solo puppet performance and founded his own professional Nikolai Zykov Theatre.

Nikolai Zykov has created over 100 puppet vignettes, which include marionettes, hand, rod, giant, radio-controlled and experimental puppets of unusual construction. Nikolai Zykov constantly developed the technology and has created many new construction and technological innovations. Some of the more innovative designs include: new not-wood constructions of marionettes, new original constructions of transformation of marionettes, new fiberglass controls of marionettes, new original radio-controlled puppets, new original constructions for flying puppets above the spectators.

Nikolai Zykov is an author of over 20 puppet performances. Puppets of Nikolai Zykov took part in many popular TV in Russia and abroad. Nikolai Zykov has received the diplomas of several competitions and festivals in Russia. Also, he has received the Gold Medal of the Arbeiterfestspiele International Festival in Germany (1984), the Medal "For Labour Valour" of the Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Union (1986), "Arts Innovation" award of the 12th China Shanghai International Arts Festival (2010), "Excellent Show" award of World UNIMA Congress and Festival (2012), "Performance" award of Asia-Pacific UNIMA commission (2014).

DURATION OF THE SHOW: 60min. without intermission or 1h 30min. with one intermission.

AGE GROUP OF AUDIENCE: audience of any ages (from children of 5 years old to adults).

LANGUAGE OF THE SHOW: none (no dialogs, no narration text, only non-stop music).

PLACE OF PERFORMING: theatre, concert hall, open air performances can be organized in the evening time.

CAPACITY OF AUDIENCE: up to 1000 spectators (ideal audience size - 300-500 spectators).

SYSTEM OF PUPPETS: vertical and horizontal marionettes, giant, radio-controlled, LED, EL-wire and experimental puppets.

NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS: 3 persons.

TOTAL WEIGHT OF PROPS: 60 kg.

AMOUNT OF PROPS: 3 cases 80x50x27cm. each.

LIGHT: The performer uses his own following LED spotlight (100W only/ any voltage) for lighting puppets in the darkness, any other stage lighting is not used.

SOUND: the performer provides non-stop CD record of the show, the inviting side must provide sound equipment for this CDand one cord microphone.

ELECTRICITY: one outlet of 220V (max 300W) is necessary on the stage.

CURTIANS:black or dark curtains are preferable on the stage.

STAGE: the performance can be presented on stage of any size and height, but 6 m. deep and 110 centimeters height of the stage are preferable

TIME OF PREPARATION OF PUPPETS BEFORE THE SHOW: 2 hours.

PACK-UP TIME OF PUPPETS AFTER THE SHOW: 30 min.
