  1. Make sure you know your seat location. (Senior members with sponsors are responsible for informing their sponsors of their procession line and seat location. Sponsors should go directly to their seats between 6:30 and 6:45. Sponsors DO NOT march in the procession.)
  1. Be especially aware of seat and row location if you are the first or last person in a row or if you are supposed to leave empty seats near you. All empty seats are there for a reason.
  1. You will leave by the same aisle you used to enter, starting with the front row.
  1. On Wednesday, Jan. 13th, please arrive no later than 6:15 and go directly to your line-up position. We will take attendance, so we know if last minute changes need to be made in order to accommodate absences. (Drop off any food donations to café C/D no later than 6:15 and prior to lining up!!)
  1. Please dress appropriately—tie and jacket for the guys; something tasteful and similarly conservative for the ladies. Be sure not to violate the school dress code. You will not be permitted to participate if you are not dressed the part of an NHS member.
  1. Please deliver your food items to cafeteria C/D where our helpers will set up for the reception. Please have your service form signed by one of the homeroom members at the end of the night before you leave. Therefore, have this ready with you!

Notes Especially for New Members

  1. During the distribution of medals and certificates, all new members will proceed up the left stairs to the stage, accept the items, shake offered hands, and depart by the right stairs to return to your seat. Girls….be MINDFUL of the length and tightness of your skirt (if you wear one) and the height of your heels (if you wear heels). The stage is slippery and I do not want anyone falling, slipping, shuffling or tugging on their skirts.
  1. New senior inductees will be called up first, alphabetically. Enter stage from the side of the podium and exit the opposite side back to your seat.
  1. If you receive the wrong certificate, please accept it and make the necessary swaps once you return to your seats. If you cannot find the rightful owner of the certificate you receive, bring it to the adviser during the reception.
  1. Once all new members have received your certificates, you will be directed to rise for the NHS oath. Repeat the oath as directed and be seated.

Notes Especially for Senior Members

  1. Sponsors will receive red stoles at their seats for each of you. The stole will be placed on the shoulders of the graduating NHS member during the recitation of the sponsor statements.
  1. Seniors may respond to the conferring of the stole by giving the teacher a card and/or asmall gift or flower bouquet (but nothing else during the ceremony).
  1. Statements for current members will be followed by statements for new senior members.
  1. Senior members without sponsors will receive their stoles from Mrs. Pietrowski—current members at the conclusion of current member statements and new members at the conclusion of new member statements.
  1. Seniors will wear the stoles for the remainder of the ceremony but will be required to return the stole as they march out of the auditorium. This is especially important since these same stoles will be used for graduation.

NO ONE GETS TO KEEP THE STOLE!

Make sure you and your guests plan to join the group for a celebratory snack in cafeteria C/D after the ceremony. We look forward to a wonderful evening!
