APPLICATION FORM 2016/17

  1. PURPOSE

1.1.The distribution of any funds distributed by Te Kotahitanga ōNgāti Whakaue Assets Trust (“Trust”)are to be in accordance with the current Benefits, Allocations and Distributions Policy, as approved by the Trustees and Te Komiti Nui.

1.2.The purpose of the Fund is to make a contribution to activities or events held by Ngāti WhakaueCommunity, Sports and Recreation groups that will have an overarching benefit for Ngāti Whakaue as an iwi.

  1. CRITERIA
  2. The criteria that applicants must meet in order to access this fundare as follows:

2.2.The funding must be for a futureplanned activity or event; business as usual activities, salary, administration and operational costs/expenseswill not be funded;

2.3.The Applicant group must be a Ngāti Whakaue group with minimum 50% of total individuals who identify as Ngāti Whakaue (NB: Individuals and very small groups are not eligible to apply for funding). This can include, but is not limited to, marae, hapū, special interest groups in the name of and/or representing Ngāti Whakaue, and/or groups of Ngāti Whakaue people. Ngāti Whakaue is defined in the Trust’s deed as:

2.3.1.Individuals that derive their whakapapa from Whakaue Kaipapa and Tūtanekai;

2.3.2.Individuals who are descended from and belong to one or more of the KoromatuaHapū of Ngāti Whakaue;

2.3.3.Individuals who are descended from one or more of the 295 original listed persons awarded ownership and title to the Pukeroa Oruawhata Block in 1881;

2.3.4.The principal pā and villages and the active marae.

2.4.The activity or event meets at least two of the following areas specified as ‘Charitable Objective & Strategic Goals’:

2.4.1.Maintenance and rejuvenation of places of cultural or spiritual significance to Ngāti Whakaue;

2.4.2.Advancing and promoting cultural education such as Ngāti Whakaue reo and tikanga;

2.4.3.Charitable purposes (being the relief of poverty, the advancement of education and socio-economic position, or religion) that are beneficial to Ngāti Whakaue;

2.4.4.Other purposes beneficial to Ngāti Whakaue;

2.4.5.Ngāti Whakaue Iho Ake: Growing, supporting and revitalizing our tribal capacity;

2.4.6.Collective Benefits: Ahi kaa, manawhenua and ūkaipō; and/or

2.4.7.Kotahitanga: Collaboration amongst iwi, hapū and whānau.

2.5.Funding will not be provided for overseas travel, alcohol or gambling (including events/activities held within a bar or gambling establishment).

  1. Applicants can apply for funding up to $5,000.
  1. Applications must be completed and received by the Secretary by 4:30pm29 February 2017.
  1. The funding will be payable to the nominated account within thirty (30) days following approval of the application. The Trust accepts no liability or responsibility for the implementation of any activities which are funded.
