Type of Role Desired:
Students, please indicate which type of part you would prefer to have in the play. Students wanting a lead or supporting role must be prepared to attend the auditions on Thursday and Friday October 12th and 13th at 3:15 in the library. Students who would prefer to sing in the chorus will begin rehearsals on Thursday, October 19th.
__ Lead Role – biggest time commitment, lines to memorize, singing ability
__ Supporting Role – some lines to be memorized; a lot of group work
__ Chorus – don’t need to attend auditions; mostly group work; lots of singing and dancing
AUDITIONS
Individual auditions will last from 2 to 5 minutes each. Students will audition in front of staff from Edge Performing Arts. They will not audition in front of other students. Students should prepare one song and one monologue. The song should be acappella (without music!) and not to exceed a minute in length. Musical theatre choices are encouraged but performers may sing any song of their choice. Songs should demonstrate the student's vocal ability, character and projection. The monologue should be chosen from a provided list of monologues available on the EDGE website: There will also be hard copies available in the office.
REHEARSALS
All rehearsals are REQUIRED. Students who have conflicts that will result in missing 3 or more rehearsals should not participate. Students may not be on stage for the entire rehearsal time, so they should be prepared to do quiet activities such as reading, drawing or homework. The director may let cast members know that they will not need to be at every rehearsal if their role is not practiced on that day. Students are required to memorize all scripts and music to which they are assigned. Attendance at the DRESS REHEARSAL is mandatory for all participants. PERFORMANCES are mandatory for all participants. Rehearsal schedule is listed on the back.
