Dear Parent
Easter Bonnet Parade and Easter Egg Hunt – Friday, 23rd March 2018
Abbot Alphege will be holding their first Easter bonnet parade on the last day of term, Friday 23rd March. Please encourage and help your child to make a simple hat to wear for the parade on an Easter theme.
Some Abbot Alphege parents have kindly offered to organise the Easter egg hunt for all pupils and are organising a tea and cake stall from 2.30pm on the day. Please join us for a lovely end to the spring term; cakes and donations will be most welcome.

Year 3 Roman Day
Salve! Year 3 had a fantastic Roman Dayon Tuesday, 13th March. The morning was spent learning Latin and following a Roman numeral trail. In the afternoon we learnt army formation, did some town planning and created an enormous mosaic.

New date for Meeting re Future Plans for Abbot Alphege Academy
Unfortunately, due to more wintry weather, the meeting scheduled for Monday 19th March was postponed. I am aware that we need another date to properly discuss future plans for Abbot Alphege Academy and how you can feel more involved in supporting and developing our school. You have shared some ideas already when we met during the past few weeks and I know there are lots more of you who have suggestions to put forward.
Can we please rearrange the meeting for Monday, 9th April at 2.30pmin the Hall at Abbot Alphege and share a more informal get together over “a cuppa”?
Educational Visit to The Donkey Sanctuary – Friday, 8th June 2018
This is a reminder regarding our exciting educational visit to The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth on Friday, 8th June. You should have received a letter concerning this visit already and I would like to remind you that payment for the visit should be made through ParentPay, our online payment system,by tomorrow, Thursday 22ndMarch 2018. If you have misplaced your letter then please contact your child’s class teacher for a copy.
Education Evening re Internet Safety – Tuesday, 10th April 2018
One of the concerns raised by several parents through the Year Group Council regards internet safety. We have, therefore, invited Sue Wheeler, a local mum who has launched a new workshop, to help parents keep their children safe online called “Safe In Your Hands”.
The workshop is designed to cover a number of areas of concern for parents, including:
Understanding and recognising cyberbullying and how to prevent it
Know what sexting is and what the law has to say
Understand how to set up parental controls
Know about online grooming
Begin to understand some of the apps your children are using
Know about digital resilience and how to promote it
This two hour session aims to leave you feeling more empowered, knowledgeable and confident about the online world and will also include input from our ICT team about how we teach children to be safe online at WASPS and Abbot AlphegeAcademy. Please put this date in your diary and join us at 5.00pm at WASPS in the Main Hall for this important session.
