News Team Writers

Our goal for the news program is to capture the viewers interest. We then disseminate the news. We need both of these elements to have a successful program. This means we need great writers. While serving as a writer, you will also be taught how to edit film as well.

To tryout, you must CREATE an interesting script. You may want to have a theme for the episode. Transitions between stories is very important. You can show action or indicate how the scene should be filmed by putting the nonverbal information in brackets.

Use the information below from Tuesday, April 11, to write your script. Below is an example of what your script should look like.

E-mail your script to by May 3.

Example

[Cash sitting at a desk during testing. He is looking down and into space as he is thinking].

Voiceover, Cash: The ACT Aspire is not as bad as I thought it would be. Only one more subject to go: SCIIIIIIIIENCE. But we have an hour to kill. What should I do? Maybe I will write a poem. [standing up slowly, elated at the idea] Yes, I’ll enter it in the contest. No more than 20 words. Any rhyme sequence I want. I’m gonna win that $500.

Cash, out loud: I’m gonna be the king of the world!

Mrs. Wheeler [steps in from the hall]: Cash! Come here! I can here you all the way …. {fades out as they walk down the hall}
