RESTRICTED BODIES OF WATER

A partial list of Lakes Region bodies of water that are governed by the State of New Hampshire.

Berry Pond – Moultonboro. No person shall use or operate any motorboat or boat equipped with an outboard motor.

ChocoruaLake – Tamworth. No person shall use or operate a motorboat or a boat equipped with an outboard motor.

HermitLake – Sanbornton. No person shall use or operate a power boat equipped with any type of power motor in

excess of 10 HP.

Hunkins Pond – Sanbornton. No person shall operate a motorboat.

LakeKanasatka – Moultonboro. Personal watercraft banned 12/01/89.

Little SquamLake - Holderness/Ashland. Personal watercraft banned 10/01/88.

MerrymeetingRiver – New Durham. No person shall use or operate a boat equipped with a petroleum-powered motor in excess of 6HP at a speed in excess of 6MHP on the Merrymeeting River between the State Fish and Game Hatchery located at New Durham and the dam located in Alton.

NewfoundLake – Bristol, et al. Personal watercraft banned in some areas and restricted in some areas.

OssipeeLake – Ossipee. No person shall operate a personal watercraft at greater than headway speed within 1500 feet from shore from Pauli Point on the east side along Long Sands to Hodgdon Shores on the southwest shore. Channels and other areas that lie within 300 feet from shores are headway speed zones for all personal watercraft.

PemigewassetLake – Meredith/New Hampton. Personal watercraft banned 12/31/89.

PemigewassetRiver – Bristol/Plymouth/Holderness. No person shall operate a motorboat at a speed exceeding 10 MPH between Ayers Island Dam in Bristol and the bridge across the river from Plymouth to Holderness. No person shall operate a seaplane from Route 104 bridge north to SawhegenetFalls in New Hampton.

Saltmarsh Pond – Gilford. No person shall operate a motorboat or outboard.

SquamLake – Holderness/Ashland. Personal watercraft banned 10/01/88. No person shall, at any time, place in, on, use or operate any houseboat. No person shall waterski within Rattlesnake Cover or Inner and Outer Squaw Coves. No person shall operate a motorboat at a speed exceeding 40 MPH during daylight hours and 20 MPH during the night.

Wakondah Pond – Moultonboro. No person shall use or operate any powerboat equipped with an internal combustion engine on the open waters. Electric motors are authorized.

LakeWaukewan – Meredith. Personal watercraft banned 12/31/89. Seaplane restriction. Public water supply.

LakeWicwas – Meredith. Personal watercraft banned 11/01/89.

Lake Winnipesaukee – Lakes Region. Personal watercraft banned 10/01/89 in Blackeys Cove, Salmon Meadow Cove, Green’s Basin. Personal watercraft banned 10/31/96 in Cedar Cove. Numerous “NO WAKE” zones can be identified on a Navigational Chart of Lake Winnipesaukee. Rafting restricted in the following areas: KonaMansion in Moultonboro; Small’s Cove in Alton; Wentworth Cove; BraunBay; WinterHarbor.

LakeWinnisquam – Lakes Region. No person shall operate a vessel at a speed exceeding 6 MPH from the flashing light beacon on the westerly end of Mohawk Island to a point 400 ft. northerly thereof. No person shall operate a vessel at a speed exceeding 6 MPH in the WinnisquamRiver, east of the light at Dixon Point. NO WATERSKIING in the area from MosquitoBridge south to the flashing light beacon on the westerly end of MohawkIsland. The area that measures 700 ft. north of Mosquito bridge to 150 ft. south of MohawkIsland shall be a no wake area.

LakeWinona – Center Harbor/New Hampton. Personal watercraft banned 12/31/89.
