MICROCODE VERSION 60-03-24-00/00

RELEASED 08/08/2008

Newly supported features and functions for Version 60-03-24-00/00

1. Mainframe & OPEN System

1-1 / Support for 8,192 UR/URz pairs per JNLG
Description / The number of UR/ UR for z/OS data volumes per JNL group has been increased so that a JNL group can now contain 8,192 pairs, which used to be 4,096 pairs. To create 4,097 or more pairs per JNLG, both MCU and RCU must support this function.
Changed Part / DKCMAIN, SVP
Note / (1) If 4,097 or more pairs exist in a JNLG, downgrading to the micro-program version that does not support 8,192 pairs per JNLG is not available.
To perform the downgrading, the number of pairs per JNLG must first be reduced to less than 4,097.
(2) The following restriction is applied to the use of Delta Re-syncfunction using DP volumes. At the time of a Delta Re-sync operation, if the operation fails and therefore all data copy is required, the pair to which the all copy operation is being performed may suspend. At that time, the status of a part of the data volume in the secondary site may become Simplex. In this case, the UR pair must be once deleted and then the delta configuration must be re-built.
1-2 / Support for TC/TCz volume migration to an external volume
Description / For volume migration of the P-VOL or S-VOL of True Copy/ True Copy for z/OS, an external volume now can be selected as the migration target volume. To use this function, install Volume Migration.

Changed Part / DKCMAIN
3-2 / Support for no data volume write at Intermediate site in TC/UR configuration
Description / In the configuration where TC and UR pairs are combined (primary -> Intermediate -> Remote sites), this support enables to create JNL only without having data written onto the data volume at the 1 site (TC SVOL and UR PVOL). Therefore, in the case the P site goes down, the synchronized data copied by the TC function exists as the JNL data at the I site, thus data lost is prevented. In addition, using a DP volume as the data volume at the I site can reduce the operational cost.
To use this function, set the System Option Mode 707 to ON before registering UR MJNL group in the I site. The Mode does not need to be set at either P or R site.
This function is available only for the JNL group that is registered after the SOM 707 is set, therefore, the Mode setting after the JNL group registration will not enable the function.
New System Option Mode 707 is available for supporting no data volume at I site.
Public Mode - No Permission Required to Use.
Changed Part / DKCMAIN, SVP, Storage Navigator
Note / The configuration using this function is 2DC, not 3DC, because the data is not written onto the data volume at the I site (Not allowed to switch from the 3DC operation). Therefore, at the time of failure occurrence at P site, an operation is unavailable at the I site, but available at the R site. In such a case, after the problem is recovered, all the data at the R site must be copied to the P site.
The operating procedure of this configuration differs from that of the TC/UR cascading configuration because the functions of the two configurations are different.
When downgrading a micro-program to a function-unsupported version, delete all the JNL groups that have been registered with the SOM 707 ON.
When using this function, set the SOM 707 to ON before JNL group registration. Do not set the mode to OFF during the operation. When the mode is set to OFF, the registered JNL groups must first be deleted.
Do not perform Swap-Suspend because the Swap-Re-sync of a UR pair is not supported.
The DKC (at I site) where the SOM 707 is set to ON cannot be shared with another UR pair.
Do not connect the I site to the host. Operations at the I site are not available.
3-3 / Support for LUSE operation using spreadsheet file
Description / With a client tool of a client PC that is in the Outland connection, users can now perform the LU expansion operation that is described in a spreadsheet file.
The spreadsheet file is a text file in the CSV format, which enables the user to edit the description by using software such as MS-Excel or a text editor.
To use this function, LUN Expansion and Storage Navigator are required. Also install the CLI client tool into a client PC.
Changed Part / SVP, Storage Navigator
3-3 / Online DP-VOL capacity expansion
Description / This new function enables the capacity of a path-defined DP-VOL to be expanded by an instruction from Raid Manager. This capacity expanding function is available only for the DP-VOL that is accessed via Windows Server 2008.To use this function, use Raid Manager 01-22-03/02 or higher.
Changed Part / DKCMAIN

Description / 1. For True Copy, pair creation using a DP volume and a usual volume has been supported.
2. For True Copy, pair creation using a DP volume and a volume of USP/NSC has been supported.
Changed Part / DKCMAIN, Storage Navigator
Note / To use this function, exchange the micro-program at the site only where the DP-VOL is used. (Micro-program exchange is not required at the site where uses a usual volume of USP V/VM or where uses USP/NSC.
3-5 / Support for UR pair creation using DP-VOL and usual VOL of USP/NSC
Description / For Universal Replicator, pair creation using a DP volume and a usual volume has been supported.
For Universal Replicator, pair creation using a DP volume and a volume of USP/NSC has been supported.
Changed Part / DKCMAIN, Storage Navigator
Note / To use this function, exchange the micro-program at the site only where the DP-VOL is used. (Micro-program exchange is not required at the site where uses a usual volume of USP V/VM or where uses USP/NSC.
3-6 / Extended support for DP-VM coordination
Description / For Volume Migration, if the emulation types of source and target volumes differ (OPEN-0V/ OPEN-V), and if both are usual volumes, the migration operation is prevented. However, if both are the DP volumes, the migration operation is now enabled.
To use this function, install the following program products:
Shadow Image for Open, Volume Migration, Dynamic Provisioning
Changed Part / DKCMAIN
Note / If the emulation types of source and target volumes differ (OPEN-0V/ OPEN-V), and if one is a DP volume and the other is a usual volume, the migration operation is prevented as before.
