Kia Stinger shortlisted for 2018European Car of the Year

-European media rank new Stinger among best cars from the last 12 months

Frankfurt, 28November 2017 –The newKia Stinger has been shortlisted for the prestigious2018 European Car of the Year award. One of seven shortlisted cars, the Stinger has been named by European automotive media among the best cars launched in Europe in the last 12 months.

Combining effortless power with a true gran turismo ride and engaging handling, the Kia Stinger fastback sport sedan has already won awards for its styling. Launched in the final quarter of 2017, the Stinger has been widely praised by motoring media for its fun-to-drive handling characteristics, high refinement, and exceptional grand touring capabilities.

TheKia Stinger was designed in Europe by Peter Schreyer, Kia’s Chief Design Officer and President, and Gregory Guillaume, Senior Chief Designer for Kia Motors Europe. The car’s chassis and drivetrain was honed at the Nürburgringand on roads around the world.The Stinger is the second Kia to be shortlisted – the first-generation Kia cee’d was also shortlisted in 2008.

The Stinger is now on-sale across Europe and is availablewith a choice of all-wheel or rear-wheel driveand a range of gasoline and diesel engines. Its high-performance 3.3-litre twin-turbocharged V6 gasoline enginemakes it the most powerful and fastest-accelerating production Kia ever. All engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and every model is backed by Kia’s unique 7-Year, 150,000 km warranty.
