Dear Parent/Guardian: September 2016
If your child has chosen to enroll in a college level course taught at Newfane High School for the 2016-17 school year, the following information is important. There are several reasons students should take advantage of our college course offerings by registering for college credit:
*huge reduction in tuition cost - plus students don’t pay fees or purchase college textbooks!
*can lessen course loads in college or possibly graduate college a semester, or more, early
*these courses will help satisfy general education requirements for college graduation
*higher high school cumulative GPA since these courses are weighted more heavily
*often times helps with college admissions if enrolled in a college course in high school
Though there is a cost per course, this is college credit at an extremely reasonable rate that is transferable to the vast majority of colleges. Most four year colleges accept transfer credit from SUNY colleges, such as NCCC and GCC.
Students taking a fall semester or full yr. college course will be receiving registration information, to include registration forms, on Sept. 15th.
Registration Deadlines for College Credit:
-NCCC registration form and tuition payment are due by Sept. 26 (return to guidance office- do NOT mail!)
-GCC registration form and tuition payment are due @ GCC by Oct. 5 (students mail to GCC w/ notarized form)
Registration and tuition for spring semester courses, where applicable, will be due at the end of January.
For 2016-17: NCCC tuition rates are: $68 per credit hour / GCC tuition rates are: $55 per credit hour
