New Zealand Winegrowers present at ProWein

Düsseldorf, Germany, Hall 6, Stand J30

New Zealand Winegrowers will once again be present at ProWein with 15 top quality producers. Showing on stand 6/J30 will be 73 wines from a wide range of varietals, vintages and New Zealand wine regions, many from the newly released 2007 vintage. Most of these wines are being shown to the European Trade for the first time and it should give interested visitors an invaluable insight into this exciting new vintage.

The 2007 vintage of 205,000 tonnes is a new record for the industry, up 11 per cent on the previous high of 185,000 tonnes set in 2006. The increase in production in 2007 is due to an increased production area (estimated 24,600 hectares) up 2,000 ha on 2006. The harvest will produce around 148 million litresof wine (based on a conversion rate of 720 litres/tonne). New Zealand exports continue to grow at a record rate so the quality 2007 vintage comes at a very good time. The Moving Annual Total (January 08) figures show New Zealand wine exports have reached a record breaking 84.2 million litres, an increase of 25.0% on the previous year(Netherlands +72%, Australia +40%, USA +22%, UK +20%, Canada +12% growth)

In addition to the wines on show New Zealand Winegrowers will also be hosting tastings at the stand at the times below. Please come along to explore in greater detail the diversity that New Zealand has to offer.
