New Zealand’s sexiest car company sports $19,000 haircut

Nine haircuts at $2112 each. It’s not a celebrity hair salon it’s Hyundai Motors New Zealand, recently voted sexiest car company by NBR. A team of nine all shaved their heads as part of the Child Cancer Foundation Funrazor event and with their total currently sitting at $19,011 that means each haircut raised around $2112.

“We have been truly humbled by the support of the wider Hyundai family, we started this out thinking we’d raise a few hundred but to get close to $20k is truly outstanding!” said Philip Eustace, Executive Director Hyundai Motors New Zealand.

He continued to say, “Supporting a charity is about more than just writing a cheque, it’s about involvement. We have really committed to this charity; we have a three year partnership with Child Cancer and are always looking for ways to increase our support and awareness raising.

“Our next event is launching the Wheels of Courage Santa Fe. The Santa Fe will be decked out with Beads of Courage graphics and will travel all over the country to be at our Hyundai Pro Longboard Tour events where we will be fundraising.”

Neil Porteous, CEO of the Child Cancer Foundation said “This is an amazing effort by the team at Hyundai and really reinforces the incredible support that they provide to the Child Cancer Foundation. As an organisation we don’t receive any government funding, so we rely solely on the generosity of the New Zealand public and sponsors like Hyundai to achieve our mission of ensuring that no child or their family walking the child cancer journey should ever feel alone.”

Philip finished off by saying, “The office is looking very bald at the moment, not exactly sexy for the car company voted the sexiest in New Zealand recently by the NBR. But it’s all worth it and we are particularly happy to have been in the country’s top fundraisers for this great event.”

It’s not too late to donate. Head to the Hyundai funrazor page and pledge your support:

Hyundai New Zealand has been supporting the Child Cancer Foundation since October 2006 with extensive fund raising initiatives as well as supplying vehicles to Child Cancer and Canteen, a charity which supports teenagers living with Cancer.
