Generac unveils their game-changing new product line at the 2014 International Builders’ Show

Waukesha, Wis., – Feb. 4, 2014–Generac introduced groundbreaking new products at the International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas, Feb. 2 through Feb. 6. Generac debuted the variable-speed Guardian Synergy™ automatic home backup generator, the breakthrough new 7 kW Guardian PowerPact™ automatic home backup generator and new mobile apps for the Mobile Link™ cellular remote monitoring system. The Generac booth also featured the 36 kW QuietSource® standby generator, the XP8000E portable generator and the 17 kW Guardian® Series automatic home backup generator.

Generac’s patented technology makes the Guardian Synergy unlike many other home standby generators on the market. Most generator engines have to run at a constant 3,600 revolutions per minute to produce electricity, regardless of how much demand there is for power. Generac’s patented technology allows the Synergy’s engine to run only as fast as necessary to meet the electric load demand. Many times home standby generator owners are not using the full capacity of their generator. Thus, the Guardian Synergy matches generator output to actual power needs. The end result is a best-in-class, much quieter, more fuel-efficient generator with exceptionally clean power output.

Generac also unveiled the cost-effective 7 kW PowerPact automatic home backup generator. By combining all the benefits of automatic operation with many of the features consumers love about Generac’s market-leading Guardian Series, the new PowerPact resets the notion of value. Starting at an affordable $1,899 MSRP, the PowerPact makes it possible for virtually any homeowner to afford full-featured automatic home standby power. PowerPact has a compact footprint for easy installation, a galvanneal steel enclosure for durability, and can be installed as close as 18 inches away from the home unless otherwise directed by local building codes and if it is also located away from doors, windows and fresh air intakes.

Both the Guardian Synergy and the Guardian PowerPact are Mobile Link compatible. At the Show Generac revealed a new Mobile Link app for iOS® and Android™ that is free and downloadable for customers on the iTunes® App Store, Google Play™ and the Amazon Appstore. The app offers users the same information they would get by visiting standbystatus.com, only optimized for their mobile device.

•View current generator status and upcoming maintenance needs.

•Remotely set the generator’s exercise schedule.

•Review the generator’s run and maintenance history.

•Receive push notifications to indicate changes in status.

“We’re not just giving homeowners what they’ve asked us for in home standby power—we’re pushing the envelope to make it easier than ever before for builders to standardize on Generac products,” said Russ Minick, Generac’s executive vice president for residential products. “This innovative technology combined with our programs and incentives for builders—not to mention our extensive dealer network—will one day make home standby generators as common in new homes as central air and dishwashers.”

To accommodate those looking for more power, the Generac booth also featured the 27 kW QuietSource standby generator. The liquid-cooled engine runs at a slower speed for quieter operation and reduced fuel consumption, meaning a longer life for the generator. Generac’s portable XP8000E, perfect for job sites and construction work, was also on display. Generac’s best-selling 17 kW Guardian Series automatic home backup generator was featured alongside the Guardian Synergy. The 17 kW Guardian Series generator features an all-weather steel or aluminum Enclosure, the Evolution™ controller and is fire-rated for installation as close as 18 inches away from the home, depending on local building codes, and assuming it is located away from doors, windows and fresh air intakes.
