A FANTASTIC new series of watersports videos have been launched showcasing Cornwall as a top marine leisure destination.
The five dynamic videos beautifully capture the range of exhilarating activities that can be enjoyed out on the water, amid the backdrop of Cornwall’s stunning433miles of coastline.
Focusing on Surfing, Kayaking, Sailing, Windsurfing and Coasteering, they demonstrate why Cornwall is such a paradise for watersports devotees. Watch them on
Experts and local legends in their sports describe why surfing, paddling and sailing in Cornwall is in their blood and, for them, is the best place in the world to practice your techniques, hone your skills and just enjoy being out on the water.
Tim Bowerbank, of Cornwall Marine Network, who commissioned the movieclips, said: “We are proud of how these videos promote the fantastic watersports opportunities provided by Cornwall’s marine leisure businesses. I’m positive anyone watching them will feel inspired to get out and have fun on, in or under the water.”
The marine leisure industry is worth some £295million a year to the Cornish economy, with its wide choice of watersports centres providing quality tuition and equipment for all ages and abilities.
The diverse range of activities providessomething for everyone, whether a completebeginner dipping their toes in for the first time,or an extreme sports enthusiast embracing the powerful swells delivered by the Atlantic’s low pressure systems.
Bathed in the Gulf Stream, Cornwall boasts the warmest waters in the UK and its sweeping bays, tranquil coves, picturesque harbours and peaceful lakesare never more than a few minutes away.
Cornwall Marine Network (CMN) commissioned these videos through funding from an EU project called Nautisme Espace Atlantique (NEA2).The projectbrings together 23 partners from five countries bordering the Atlantic’s 25,000km of coastline. It is part-financed by the European Development Fund from the Interreg IVb Transnational Cooperation Atlantic Area Fund,Cornwall Council, CoaST and CMN. Its aims are for the sustainable development and growth of the marine leisure sector in the Atlantic area. Partners work together to share best practice, support innovation and market the marine leisure sector to the world.
