New Sustainable Technologies Training Trailer

Visits Bonita Springs for

Mechanical Service Contractors of America

24th Annual Educational Conference

Bonita Springs, Florida, October 21, 2009 – A unique state-of-the-art sustainable technologies demonstration training trailer that lets contractors and customers have hands-on access is available and open this week, while the Mechanical Service Contractors of America (MSCA) hold their 24th Annual Educational Conference at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point.

The Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Mobile Green Classroom of Sustainable Technologies is an educational tool providing information about the latest green technologies being used in mechanical and plumbing, service and construction.

“This adds to our arsenal of unique training capabilities,” said MSCA Executive Director Barbara Dolim.

The 54-foot-long trailer is equipped with various workstations, each offering installation, operation and service training opportunities on green building technologies. Many were included because of their relationship to the USGBC LEED Green Building Certification requirements.

Green HVACR, plumbing, fire prevention and energy systems in the trailer are fully functional in order to demonstrate installation, operation and why they are described as “green.”

The trailer is a collaborative initiative by: the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada (UA), the Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA), the Mechanical Service Contractors of America, the Plumbing Contractors of America (PCA), the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and the Green Mechanical Council (GreenMech).

Sustainable technologies that are demonstrated within the trailer are: solar energy production and storage, solar water heating, radiant floor heating system, radiant ceiling heating and cooling system, geo-thermal heat pump system, Heat pump water pre-heat system, air purification system, desiccant low humidity system, high efficiency HVAC motor display, package terminal air conditioner – zone cooling system , wind power simulator, energy efficient appliances, high efficiency/low flow plumbing fixtures and
