New Student Checklist

_____ Banner account- Log into Lesesne Gateway using your username and password. For Example: (Pass010198 birthdate)

_____ Set up your email account-Log into Lesesne Gateway; go to Student Tab; go to Google Webmail option to log into your e-mail account. Citadel administration, staff and professors use this account to communicate important Citadel information to you from admittance through graduation. Please activate and maintain.

_____ Get your student ID. You may stop by Bond Hall Room 244 to process your student One-Card ID.

_____ Pay for courses. Access your Student Tab viaLesesne Gateway to view your current account or contact the Treasurer’s Office for more information (953-5254). Please note there is a $30 service fee for using a credit card for payment; payment by electronic check is free.

_____ Pay for parking. You must pay for a parking pass ($40) each semester in order to park on campus. Parking passes may be purchased at the Treasurer’s Office, Bond Hall 112. Once you have paid, you will need to take your receipt to Public Safety to receive your parking pass.

_____ Get your books. The campus book store is locatedin Mark Clark Hall. You may visit the bookstore during normal business hours or online at

_____ Student Services. Student Services include Academic Support, Athletics, Citadel Beach House, the Career Center, and more. Visit the The Citadel College Graduate College (CGC) Handbook at for details.

Login Instructions for Lesesne Gateway:

Lesesne Gateway provides access to your Citadel information, including what is happening on campus, access to library databases, links to CitLearn and WebMail, chat sessions with a librarian or the IT Help Desk, and more!

First, you must identify your username. This is a combination of letters from your first and last name and may also include numbers. If you are a new student, your username will be provided to you by either Admissions or Citadel Graduate College when you are accepted.

1. To access Lesesne Gateway, from The Citadel’s homepage ( select Citadel Connect and then click on Lesesne Gateway.

2. Enter your username (Example: jsmith2)

3. Enter your initial password.

Students: Your initial password is the word Pass followed by your birthday in the format MMDDYY. For example, if your birthday is July 3, 1979, your initial password would be: Pass070379.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT PASSWORDS:

  1. Your password is personal and confidential information and should not be shared with anyone.
  2. Upon successful login, navigate to the Password Management channel (right-side box) and change your password. For security reasons, successful passwords must:
  3. Be a minimum of 8 characters
  4. Contain at least one capitalized letter and one lowercase letter
  5. Contain at least one number

Login Instructions for WebMail:

  1. Login to Lesesne Gateway.
  2. Click the Student tab.
  3. Click the WebMail link.
  4. The first time you access your WebMail through Lesesne Gateway, you must enter a password.

a)Returning Students: Enter your current WebMail password.

b)New Students: Enter the same username and password you used to login to Lesesne Gateway.

c)You will be prompted to change your password upon login. (If you have successfully changed your Lesesne Gateway password, you may wish to change your WebMail password to match. This enables you to use the same username/password combination to access both accounts.)

  • Go to the CitLearn login page. (Lesesne Gateway --> Student Tab --> My Courses channel --> CitLearn Link)
  • Your CitLearn user name is your 8-digit CWID number. (EX. 10000000)
  • Your password is the word “Pass” plus the last four digits of your SSN. (EX. Pass0000)
  • Change your CitLearn Password

Once you login for the first time, you can change your CitLearn password to match your WebMail password, which will make it easy to remember.

  1. Login to CitLearn with the above information.
  2. On the “My CitLearn” tab, click on the “Personal Information” link in the “Tools” module.
  3. On the next screen, click on the “Change Password” link.
  4. The next screen requires the new password to be entered twice.
  5. Click on the “Submit” button.

  • Choose either the Username Option or the Email Address Option

Username Option

a)Fill in the first name, the last name, and the username (CWID).

b)An e-mail will be sent to their Citadel WebMailaccount, with instructions on how to change their password.

Email Address Option

a)Fill in the first name, the last name, and the Citadel WebMail address. (It should be in the format.)

b)An e-mail will be sent to their Citadel WebMailaccount, with instructions on how to change their password.

  1. Click the “Submit” button.

Excerpts from The Citadel’s Traffic and Parking Regulation:

The Citadel Department of Public Safety parking citations will be issued for the following reasons:

  1. Parking improperly
  2. Parking in a "No Parking" Zone
  3. Parking in a Loading Zone
  4. Blocking a sally port, sidewalk, or driveway
  5. Parking in a Reserved Lot or Reserved Space without authority or displaying an appropriate permit
  6. Parking in a Fire Lane or blocking access to a fire hydrant
  7. Failure to properly register a vehicle
  8. Parking overtime
  9. Parking in a roadway, on a curb where prohibited, or on a yellow curb
  10. Failure to appropriately display a Parking Permit

NOTE: Citadel Parking Citations may be appealed to a Public Safety Officer within ten (10) days. The fine for parking illegally is twenty-five ($25) dollars. Fines which remain unpaid after ten (10) days will be sent to the Treasurer's office for collection. Five or more parking citations to the same vehicle will result in the vehicle being booted. Unregistered vehicles receiving three (3) parking citations will be booted upon receipt of the 3rd parking citation. Boot removal fee is fifty ($50) dollars. Vehicles that remain parked for seventy-two hours after a boot is place are subject to being towed, at the owner's expense.

Parking, standing, loading, or unloading on streets posted as "No Parking," adjacent to yellow curbs, or on the concrete pads along Jones Avenue, is prohibited.

Traffic and parking on streets in faculty/staff residential areas are limited to residents and their bona fide guests, as more fully described below. Students are not permitted to park in the faculty /staff residential areas at any time without the prior specific approval of The Citadel Department of Public Safety.

Parking in a lane of traffic, in the roadway, an alley, on a narrow street (two lanes with "no parking" signs), or in an aisle of a parking lot is not permitted.

Vehicle parking and/or standing on Jones Avenue or on the concrete pads in front of the barracks is prohibited. However, cadets may load and unload vehicles on Jones Avenue during holiday periods.

PARKING PERMITS

All students, faculty, staff, interagency personnel, Citadel contractors, and their employees who park or operate a vehicle on The Citadel campus must obtain a parking permit through The Citadel Department of Public Safety. Only these individuals are eligible to obtain parking permits, as long-term parking privileges are reserved for persons officially associated with The Citadel who have a need for regular access to campus.

Parking permits must be obtained immediately upon or prior to entry to the campus unless otherwise scheduled. All permits must be prominently displayed in the manner designated for the specific type of permit. Failure to properly display the permit may result in a parking citation. Temporary permits for all categories of personnel authorized to park on The Citadel Campus will be issued as necessary to accommodate the needs of The Citadel and the individual.

Permits for student vehicles will be by academic semester, summer session, or academic year (August-May). Faculty, staff, Citadel permanent contractor, and interagency employee permits will be issued annually or as appropriate.

Day, CGC, summer school, and MECEP students must purchase a hanging tag authorizing them to park in specified lots on or near campus. (Evening College student’s park in any Faculty/Staff lot after 4:00 pm with a valid Citadel issued parking decal. If an Evening College student arrives before 4:00 pm they must park at Congress Street Lot adjacent to the Holiday Alumni Center at the rear of the lot.)

TOWING AND IMPOUNDMENT

The Citadel Department of Public Safety may have a vehicle towed, impounded, and stored at the owner's risk and expense under any of the following:

  1. The vehicle is blocking a fire lane or sally port
  2. The vehicle is blocking a driveway, a properly parked vehicle, a service entry, a loading zone, or is otherwise creating a hazard in the opinion of the Public Safety Officer.
  3. The vehicle is illegally parked and a total of five cumulative parking citations have been issued.
  4. The vehicle is in a restricted parking area without displaying a valid permit for the area or parking space.

The vehicle is blocking a lane of traffic

  1. The vehicle is disabled and/or appears abandoned.
  2. The vehicle appears inoperable (flat tires, engine partially dismantled, etc.) and has not been operated within the past 30 days.
  3. The vehicle displays an expired license plate and has not been moved within the past 30 days.
  4. The operator refuses to move the vehicle when requested to do so by traffic controller of Public Safety Officer in the performance of duty.
  5. The vehicle is double parked for any reason.

Unregistered vehicles parking on The Citadel Campus or properties owned by The Citadel that have received 3 parking citations will be booted and after 72 hours may be towed at the owners expense.

CGC STUDENT PARKING: Evening students must purchase an evening parking decal. After 1600 Monday through Friday, and on weekends, these students may park in any faculty and staff lettered lot, Avenue of Remembrance parking space, or Kovats Lot. Prior to 1600 hours Monday through Friday, evening student parking is limited to the Congress Street Lot adjacent to the Holiday Alumni Center.

SUMMER SCHOOL STUDENT PARKING: Summer school students must purchase summer school parking permit, and may park in any cadet space.

GRADUATE ASSISTANTS: Graduate assistants may purchase a parking permit and park in the designated are in the Congress Street lot.

MOTORCYCLE PARKING: Motorcycle parking is only authorized at the Huger Street motorcycle lot.
