Performance Appraisal Reviews (PAR) / All staff of the University must participate in professional development and performance appraisal reviews. PDR process is seen as a key strategy to support the development and retention of staff. The review is undertaken and recorded through the Employee Self Service
(ESS) kiosk
Commencing PDR - is to be completed by new staff within the first two months of employment or other staff taking up a new role. It is designed to assist new staff, or staff in new positions, to transition into their new roles in a smooth manner. It enables clarification of the goals, required outcomes and support that will be offered to the employee. It also provides an important forum for the supervisor and employee to develop their ongoing professional relationship.
The PDR is completed by all staff and offers an annual discussion as to achievements, emerging work role changes or challenges, performance and role expectations and development strategies.
The PAR is to be undertaken at least once every three years. The PAR may also be triggered at key points of an employee's career including consideration for reward and recognition. The PAR is an assessment of performance outcomes based on all aspects of the individual's performance.
