NEW LINCLUDEN MEDICAL CENTRE IN UDDINGSTON OFFICIALLY DECLARED OPEN

THE SPACIOUS new Lincluden Medical Centre in Uddingston has been officially declared open.

The new building, which is funded by NHS Lanarkshire, was open to patients on 16 July 2015 and officially opened by NHS Lanarkshire Chair Neena Mahal on 20 August.

Lincluden Surgery partner Dr Bruce Thomson said: “The partners and staff of Lincluden Medical Centre are delighted to have moved to their new premises after a long period of planning.

“We trust that they will provide modern, flexible and convenient facilities to provide medical care to the people of Uddingston for many years and assist us in meeting both the current and future health care demands in primary care.”

Former practice manager Neil Doherty, who played a key role in managing the project, said: “The new premises will allow us to provide a better service to our 7,800 patients in the local area. It looks fantastic and is more spacious.”

NHS Lanarkshire Chair Neena Mahal said: “The new centre at 82 Bellshill Road really is a fantastic improvement on the previous premises at 53 Bellshill Road and offers a much more pleasant working environment for the practice’s seven GPs, four nurses and ten support staff.

“Most importantly, the extra space and the flexibility it affords will be put to good use to develop specialised clinics and improve access for patients in a way that was not possible previously.

“Uddingston now has a surgery that is fit-for-purpose for current patients – as well as being big enough to meet the needs of future generations for many years to come."

Among those thanked at the official opening were the developer Alexander Braidwood and Sons who worked in close partnership with the practice to create this new surgery.

Primary Care Services Manager Alastair Mackintosh and Alan Lawrie, who was the Director of South Lanarkshire Community Health Partnership, in the early stages of the project, were also thanked.

NHS Lanarkshire provides funding for the new medical centre through the reimbursement arrangements for GP practice leased premises.
