CRITERIA FOR STATE LODGE AWARD
Medal of Honor
Person is to be presented with Medal, Award and Commendation Ribbon
This award is to be bestowed upon an individual who dies in the performance of their duty. Not restricted to an act of violence or crime.
This award may be also presented to an individual who decides to take an action with full knowledge that the action will result in either death or serious injury.
Medal of Valor
Person is to be presented with Medal, Award and Commendation Ribbon
This award is presented to an individual who performs actions risking their own personal safety and the risk of personal injury is quite high. Also, actions of life saving with disregard to one’s own personal safety may be covered under this award.
Purple Heart
Person is be presented with Medal, Award and Commendation Ribbon
This award is presented to Law Enforcement Personnel who sustain injuries as a direct result of a physical assault. The assault of physical violence can be with or without a weapon.
Meritorious Service
Person is to be presented with Award and Commendation Ribbon
This award is presented to an individual in recognition of an act of bravery.
Examples of the act of bravery may include but not be limited to; Pursuit and/or Capture of an armed suspect, confrontation with an armed suspect and hostage situations
Law Enforcement Star
Person is to be presented with Award and Commendation Ribbon
This award is presented to an individual for an act that goes above and beyond the call of duty.
Examples of acts for this award are; Bravery, Service, Detection and Apprehension.
Outstanding Law Enforcement Work
Person is to be presented with Award and Commendation Ribbon
This award is presented to an individual in recognition of dedication of duty. This dedication includes follow-ups that lead to an arrest and/or recovery of stolen property. Also included are foot pursuits, successful conclusion of investigations and large drug arrests and seizures.
Award of Merit
Person is to be presented with Award and Commendation Ribbon
This award is presented in recognition of Law Enforcement Officers’ who continually display dedication to duty or the successful completion of enforcement campaign, civic program and/or crime prevention effort.
Award of Courage
Person to be presented with Award
This award is presented to an individual, group or business that performs a service or provides for the well-being of the Fraternal Order of Police and its membership.
Humanitarian Award
Person to be presented with Award
This award is presented in recognition of an act that is selfless and for the sole benefit of other
Each award shall have its own color scheme, thus making it distinguishable from other awards. Included with Award may be a Medal and Commendation Ribbon for Law Enforcement Officers.
For successive awards Commendations Ribbons may include stars.
