A Muslim’s Mind, Edward J. Hoskins (1 copy)

Subject Category: Outreach

Physician and missionary Don Hoskins and his wife have lived among Muslim peoples for some 25 years, engaging them in conversation about their respective religious traditions. Dr. Hoskins has also studied the Hadith for decades (62 volumes of authoritative Sunni Hadith).

In this book, the author highlights and explains important texts of the Hadith in 6 different topic areas (Muhammad, women, heaven and hell, Jews and Christians, Shariah law, and jihad), showing how these traditions elaborate upon the Quran and help us understand the intellectual, social, and ethical lives of Muslims around us. There is nothing like this book and it is a valuable resource for Christians seeking help in sharing Christ with their Muslim friends. This book comes highly recommended by the Common Ground Conference.

Peace Child, Don and Carol Richardson (1 copy)

Subject Category: Outreach

The autobiographical account of Don and Carol Richardson’s ministry among the Sawi peoples of Irian Jaya. As Don Richardson writes in his Introduction, “as we studied the language [of the Sawi] and probed into their legends and customs, we found that we were living and working among a people who honor treachery as an ideal.” Their heroes would befriend and then kill and eat neighboring tribes. “…but the principle that we discerned was that God had already provided for the evangelization of this people by means of redemptive analogies in their own culture.”

From Amazon reviewer: What an extraordinary storyteller! I love Don Richardson's style of sharing this beautiful testimony. It was raw, authentic, truthful and just VIBRANT with life as it is in the uncivilized parts of the world. My imagination had to do very little work as the book and its characters came to life.

Reading feeds the mind, and providentially our minds—unlike our bodies—can continue to grow the longer we live. -- a -- paraphrase of Mortimer Adler

Lewis, Oxford theologian McGrath's lucid and unsentimental portrait of the Christian champion responds with a resounding "yes."

Patheos.com: Rather than canonizing Lewis, McGrath's detailed book succeeds in humanizing him.
