CUE TIP OF THE WEEK: CHANGING CUES

The American Poolplayers Association has made a change to the rule regarding switching pool cues in the middle of a match. It is now permissible to change cues anytime you like – so long as you are using a regular game cue. You are NOT allowed to use a specialty cue, which includes jump cues. If you change cues (or shafts), then it must be a regular playing cue. You cannot break down a cue except when there is a wall obstruction that forces you to use a “shorty.”

THIS WEEK’S BOUNTY HUNT:

Jamie Pleyo from “I See Dead Balls” – there’s a bounty on your head this week. Play and win your match this Tuesday and your match is free! If her opponent (the bounty hunter) wins, then the bounty hunter plays for free!

COACHING NEW PLAYERS

If you have a player on your roster who is brand new to the APA, then they do not yet have an established ranking. Guys will start as a 4. Ladies will start as a 3 in 8-ball or a 2 in 9-ball. All brand new players are allowed 2 coaches on their first night – even the guys – because they do not yet have an established rank.

NEW “TOP DAWG” PROGRAM

We announced at our wild card party the roll out of a new program called “Top Dawg.” The team that averaged the most points in 8-ball overall throughout the entire Blue Ridge APA (and was not already qualified for Tri-Cup) got entry into the Tri-Cup tournament for a chance to compete for an LTC spot. Congratulations to “Erratic Behavior,” which won the spot into Tri-Cup.

LADIES ONLY 8-BALL DIVISION

The new session of our once-per-month ladies 8-ball division starts on Sunday, June 15th. Play begins at 1:30pm at Fat Cat's Billiards. We have 10 teams playing in this division – and only a few teams have spots open on their rosters. Come out and join us for this interesting twist on “ladies night out!”
