NEW CREEK SCHOOL HOME-SCHOOL COMPACT

The New Creek School, and the parents of the students participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) (participating children), agree that this compact outlines how the parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the mean by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the State’s high standards. This parent-school compact is in effect during school year 2016-2017.

PARENT

I will see that my child is in school each day on time.

I will encourage home communication by checking my child's daily assignment notebook/folder, reviewing daily assignments, checking the backpack,making use of personal notes, email and telephone calls to the school.

I will attend conferences, respond to mid term reports, and report cards every nine weeks.

I will attend school meetings and workshops when possible.

I will encourage my child to read at home daily.

I will read aloud to my child as often as possible.

SCHOOL

We will provide a curriculum based on the West Virginia Content Standards and Objectives in a challenging and inviting learning environment.

We will write daily assignments on the board and will give clear oral directions.

We will encourage studentsto read at home by exposing them to good literature and by participating in programs that motivate reading such as Accelerated Reader and Book It.

We will foster home-school communication through daily assignment notebooks/folders, weekly menus, monthly newsletters, our school web page, SchoolReach, personal notes,Live Grades, the use of email and telephone calls.

The school will hold conferences andsend mid term reports as needed and issue report cards every nine weeks.

We will encourage parents to visit and volunteer in our school.

We will offer meetings and workshops to help parents help their children achieve their academic goals.
