A. Course Description:

Students will acquire knowledge and skills as well as good sportsmanship while participating in the following classes:

Aerobics

Racquet Sports

Weight lifting

Outdoor Sports

Healthy eating log on chrome books

Court Sports

B.Course Goals:

A.Students will acquire knowledge and skills related to each individual course.

B.To develop and reinforce the incorporation of physical activities into a lifestyle beyond high school.

C.Instructional Philosophy:

A.Students will be expected to attend class everyday.

B.Students will be expected to be on time to class with a visible ID each day.

C.This will be implemented when construction is completed. (Tentatively date is January) Every student will be expected to dress out and participate daily in activities that require them to interact with each other implementing good sportsmanship.

D.Basic skills will be reviewed and performed in team activities.

E.Rules will be discussed and implemented for appropriate activity.

D.Course Outline:

A.Each unit will last approximately 3-6 weeks.

B.At the conclusion of the 3-6 weeks, a review and written test will be given.

E.Grading/Expectations/Evaluation

A.40% daily work / 60% test

B. Grade will be determined by dressing out and participation.

1. Dressing out will consist of have tennis shoes on during class for their grade until the dressing facilities are finished.

2. Participation -50 points (Students will be required to participate daily to the best of their ability)

3. Inappropriate dress will result in deduction of points

4. Test - Skills test or a written test/dressing out in uniform (once construction is complete)

5. These grades will be averaged together for a final grade

6. Three chances of not dressing during a 9-week period will be a referral to the office (once construction is completed)

F.Make-up Policy:

A.If you are absent on the day of a written test, you will take the test on the next available day.

B.It is the student’s responsibility to make the arrangements for making up the test.

G.Teacher provided Extra time / Extra Help:

Thursday before school from 6:30 – 7:00

H. Gym Guidelines:

A.All school rules and policies addressed in the student handbook will be enforced.

B. Dressing out is mandatory. If you are sick, you are still required to dress out to receive a grade. (We will begin this as soon as the facilities are finished)

C. If sick a parent note will be accepted for that day after which you will need a doctors note.

D. Food, drinks, candy, or gum will not be allowed in the gym.

E. Be prepared, always bring your PE Uniform and tennis shoes to class. Lockers will be provided.

F.Students are required to have student ID's in their possession.

I. Uniform supplies:

A. PE Uniform sheet is attached (If there is a problem getting a uniform please see your coach) We will begin this as soon as our facilities are completed)

B.Socks and tennis shoes
