Important Information
ONLY ONE week to CSTs work-work-work!---California Standards Test (CST) – criterion-referenced and untimed. This test measures whether your child knows what he or she is supposed to know for the grade level in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and, for fifth grade, Science. The scores from each test will be reported in terms of Advanced, Proficient, Basic, Below Basic and Far Below Basic
· Thanks, thanks, thanks, !!! for all your support. . . .we have plenty of snacks and water. Our kids will be working hard on the CSTs the water and snacks will make it bearable . . . remember unlike previous grade levels grade five has CSTs in Science so our testing days are increased by two, in comparison to the rest o f the grade levels. We will be taking the ELA part on May 7th & 8th -then on May 9th part one of Math. . . then on to part two of Math on May, 14th, finally ending with Science on May 15th part one and May 16th part two!
· Monday, May 6-Friday, May 17: STAR Testing including make-ups.
· Tuesday, May 7: National Day of the Teacher
· Because of CSTs HW will be varied, check web site for daily post.
· Monday, May 13: Rumpelstiltskin (school-wide field trip) at Whittier College Load buses at 8:50, depart at 9:00, arrive back at school by 11:15.
· Friday, May 17: Jog-a-Thon at Lake Marie
· Friday, May 24: Furlough Day- Monday, May 27: Memorial Day, No School
· Tuesday, May 28: Rio Hondo Orchestra Presentations
· Saturday, June 1: GATE Olympiad
· Thursday, June 13: Last Day of School (minimum day for all); Kinder Promotion; 6th Grade Promotion
· Open House Reminder: Lake Marie will host its annual Open House Thursday, May 30 from 5:30-6:30 pm. In lieu of a Spring Festival, we will have vendors here that night (Taco Truck, Kettle Corn and Bounce House).
