PRELUDE
WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
CALL TO WORSHIP Psalm 50:14-15
PRAYER OF ADORATION
HYMNS OF ADORATION Holy, Holy, Holy
Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee;
Holy, Holy, Holy, merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessed Trinity!
Holy, Holy, Holy, all the saints adore thee,
Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;
Cherubim and seraphim falling down before thee,
Who wert, and art, and evermore shalt be.
Holy, Holy, Holy, though the darkness hide thee,
Though the eye of sinful man thy glory may not see,
Only thou art holy; there is none beside thee
Perfect in power, in love, and purity.
Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty!
All thy works shall praise thy Name, in earth and sky and sea;
Holy, Holy, Holy, merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessed Trinity!
Jesus Cast a Look on Me
Music: Matthew Perryman Jones
Jesus cast a look on me, give me sweet simplicity
Make me poor and keep me low, seeking only Thee to know.
All that feeds my busy pride, cast it evermore aside
Bid my will to Thine submit, lay me humbly at Thy feet.
Make me like a little child, of my strength and wisdom spoiled
Seeing only in Thy light, walking only in Thy might.
Leaning on Thy loving breast, where a weary soul can rest
Feeling well the peace of God, flowing from His precious blood.
In this posture let me live, and hosannas daily give
In this temper let me die, and hosannas ever cry!
CONFESSION OF SIN
Father, we come admitting that when trouble strikes us, we are slow to turn to you for help. We are deluded, thinking that we are self-sufficient. We doubt your goodness, and we assume that you cannot help us. Worse, we assume that you do not care to help us. Forgive our arrogance in thinking that we can take care of ourselves. Forgive our doubts about your goodness and love. Help us see our dependence upon you. And grant that we would find help and hope as we come to you through Christ, knowing that nothing can separate us from your love in Him, through whom we pray, Amen.
SILENT CONFESSION OF SIN
ASSURANCE OF PARDON 2 Timothy 2:11-13
HYMN OF PARDON From the Depths of Woe
Music: Christopher Miner
From the depths of woe I raise to Thee the voice of lamentation;
Lord, turn a gracious ear to me and hear my supplication;
If Thou iniquities dost mark, our secret sins and misdeeds dark,
O who shall stand before Thee? (Who shall stand before Thee?) (2x)
To wash away the crimson stain, grace, grace alone availeth;
Our works, alas! Are all in vain; in much the best life faileth;
No man can glory in Thy sight, all must alike confess Thy might,
And live alone by mercy (Live alone by mercy) (2x)
Therefore my trust is in the Lord, and not in mine own merit;
On Him my soul shall rest, His word upholds my fainting spirit;
His promised mercy is my fort, my comfort and my sweet support;
I wait for it with patience (Wait for it with patience) (2x)
What though I wait the live-long night, and ‘til the dawn appeareth,
My heart still trusteth in His might; it doubteth not nor feareth;
Do thus, O ye of Israel’s seed, ye of the Spirit born indeed;
And wait ‘til God appeareth (Wait ‘til God appeareth) (2x)
Though great our sins and sore our woes His grace much more aboundeth;
His helping love no limit knows, our upmost need it soundeth.
Our Shepherd good and true is He, Who will at last His Israel free
From all their sin and sorrow (All their sin and sorrow) (2x)
CONFESSION OF FAITH The HeidelbergCatechism
Question 1: What is your only comfort in life and death?
Answer:That I with body and soul, both in life and death, am not my own, but belong to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ; who, with his precious blood, has fully satisfied for all my sins, and delivered me from all the power of the devil; and so preserves me that without the will of my heavenly Father, not a hair can fall from my head; yes, that all things must be subservient to my salvation, and therefore, by his Holy Spirit, He also assures me of eternal life, and makes me sincerely willing and ready, henceforth, to live unto him.

Psalm 77 “When Troubles Come”
HYMN OF RESPONSE O Love That Will Not Let Me Go
Music: Christopher Miner
O Love that will not let me go, I rest my weary soul in thee;
I give thee back the life I owe, that in thine ocean depths its flow
May richer, fuller be.
O light that followest all my way, I yield my flickering torch to thee;
My heart restores its borrowed ray, that in thy sunshine’s blaze its day
May brighter, fairer be.
O Joy that seekest me through pain, I cannot close my heart to thee;
I trace the rainbow through the rain, and feel the promise is not vain,
That morn shall tearless be.
O Cross that liftest up my head, I dare not ask to fly from thee;
I lay in dust life’s glory dead, and from the ground there blossoms red
Life that shall endless be.
