Human Resources Intern

The Human Resources Intern will interact with and provide support to the Human Resources department in areas of recruitment, benefits, payroll, and employee relations. Must be able to handle confidentiality, multi-task, and be self-directed.

Responsibilities:

  • Recruiting: job postings; candidate screening; background checks; offer letters; tracking
  • New employees: conduct new employee orientations; coordinate administrative paperwork; file completed paperwork; etc.
  • Benefits: assist with benefit enrollments and terminations
  • Reporting: may assist in preparing related reports and filings
  • HR audit and compliance: conduct audits on employment-related files
  • General: Provide support for various HR initiatives, as assigned. Be willing to help out wherever needed to ensure success across the teams. Help identify opportunities to enhance our programs and processes.
  • Perform all work in accordance with Neighborhood House policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field
  • Must be a junior, senior, or graduate level student
  • Strong computer skills (including Microsoft Office, Internet and e-mail); must be able to quickly learn new software applications.
  • Strong level of interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details. Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet aggressive deadlines
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to work with large amounts of data
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with people of diverse economic, racial and cultural backgrounds

Time Commitment:This position will be 20-30 hours per week depending on the individual’s schedule availability.
