Students chose topics that they felt were important to share with the parents on what they are learning in class. Each section of this special edition was typed and created by your child. I hope you enjoy  ~ Ms. Miksch

Journals

It’s fun to write in our journals because Ms. Miksch picks topics that we can relate to. One topic had us writeabout our dreams and goals. We also wrote a short story. The best part is sharing our thoughts with the class. It’s exciting to hear everyone’s ideas!

Reading

We read Goldilocks and the Three Bears where we participated in a play and found out that Goldilocks did not listen to her mother. We learned that it is not right to take from others and that you should always ask permission. We just finished Christopher Columbus’s Mistake which was a play too. The class always picks parts and we take turns reading. We learned that they sailed on the Nina, Pinta, and the Santa Maria. On the way to Asia he sailed West instead of East and after a couple of months he really landed in America.

Library

Once a week our Language Arts class goes to the library where we get to play on the computer. Every time we go there, we play a different game. On each of the sites, we play games like spelling, reading, and grammar. The class likes coming to the library because we get computer time and get to play different games that are fun too. We also like coming to the library because we can type on the computer instead of writing on paper. We get into teams and help each other on the computers and even take turns on the computers doing different games. The library is an exciting place to go in the school and gets us out of the classroom. We’re so happy Ms. Miksch takes us to the library

Classwork/Homework

We do many types of classwork and sometimes homework. Last week we learned about advertisements and how they are everywhere. After that we went to the library to play an ad detective game on the computer where we had to find advertisements in different pictures. We even did a plotting chart about Christopher Columbus that led us to a secret message when we worked in small groups. This was an adventure and made some of us feel like a map charter. The best part is having fun and being together as a class.
