Issue:
Necessary printers are missing from Printers and Faxes when Black Ice has been installed manually.
Cause:
Manual installation of the Black Ice printer drivers separately from the TRIM Render installation.
Workaround:
When the Black Ice printer drivers are installed manually only one printer will appear in the Printer and Faxes control panel. This printer is called ‘Black Ice ColorPlus TS’ and is not configured to correctly process the rendition requests issued by TRIM Render.
To overcome this issue it is necessary to install two virtual printers.
To install the TIFF printer:
Double click on Add Printer /Click next on the ‘Welcome to the Add Printer Wizard’ /
Select ‘Local printer attached to this computer’ /
Select ‘Use the following port: IcePortTSAUR: (Black Ice Port) /
Select Generic / Text only driver (we will change this later) /
Set the printer name to TRIMRender_TIFF /
Do not share this printer /
No test page /
Finish /
Right click on the newly created printer and select properties, then select the Advanced tab and change the driver to ‘Black Ice ColourPlus TS Driver’
Remove check mark from ‘Print spooled documents first’. /
Right click on the newly added printer, select Printing Preferences, select File Formats, select the following:
File Format = TIFF Lempel-Ziv & Welch
Color Depth = 1 bit
Photo Quality = Floyd-Steinberg /
To install the PDF printer:
Double click on Add Printer /Click next on the ‘Welcome to the Add Printer Wizard’ /
Select ‘Local printer attached to this computer’ /
Select ‘Use the following port: IcePortTSAUR: (Black Ice Port) /
Select Generic / Text only driver (we will change this later) /
Set the printer name to TRIMRender_PDF /
Do not share this printer /
No test page /
Finish /
Right click on the newly created printer and select properties, then select the Advanced tab and change the driver to ‘Black Ice ColourPlus TS Driver’
Remove check mark from ‘Print spooled documents first’. /
Right click on the newly added printer, select Printing Preferences, select File Formats, select the following:
File Format = PDF Version 1.4 (Image)
Color Depth = 1 bit
Photo Quality = Floyd-Steinberg /
Select the Filename Generation tab:
Filename Generation Method = Exact Filename
Filename = out.pdf
Output Directory = C:/Documents and Settings/trimservices/Application Data/TOWER Software/TRIM5/ID
(ID = DBID) /
Click on the Start Application tab:
Remove check mark next to ‘Disable the Messaging Interface’ /
Restart the Print Spooler service (spool.exe)
Start the TRIM Render service.
