Sir Charles & Lady Hilary Groves Prizes
Background to the awards
The National Federation of Music Societies created the NFMS/Sir Charles Groves Prizes in 1990 in recognition of the outstanding contribution individuals, both amateur and professional, and organisations make to the cultural life of their communities in the UK. The award honours our former President and was launched to mark the renowned conductor's 75th birthday.
The prize has since been restructured into two annual awards in honour of Sir Charles Groves and Lady Hilary Groves, both of whom gave exceptional support to the Federation during their lifetimes:
Making Music Sir Charles Groves Prize
