NCCER IRC Guide

Once you receive your Annotated Instructor’s Guide (AIG) you will use the code on the yellow page at the front of the AIG to gain access to the TestGen and tests for NCCER Core.

Step 1: Go to and click the IRC link

Step 2: Click on Construction and Maintenance: (Read the First time user statement under the grey boxes!)

Step3: Click on the edition that you are currently using. This will most likely be the 4th or 5th edition of Core Curriculum and have a picture of the text book.

Step 4: Register your Access Code (on the yellow page at the front of the AIG) to establish your log in and username. **If you have done this already skip to step

STEP 5: Accept the Agreement by clicking accept

Step 6: If this is the first time using Pearson product you will not have an account. CLICK NO and enter the access code in the front of the AIG and click next.

Step 7: Fill in your information and click next

Step 8: Click the Log in now button and it will take you to this page. [Write down your username and password for this site]. Click on the Download TestGen Button. You will have to have the test gen loaded to access the tests. Tests can then be saved to your computer or USB. I suggest saving them to a file or your desktop for ease of finding again.

Step 9: Click on downloads link

Step 10: Click on TestGen Desktop Application

Step 11: Click on the appropriate box for the computer you are downloading to. If you have trouble downloading the file, contact your local IT professional. Access to administrative rights may be required.

Step 12: Once the download is complete click on TestGen questions for Mac or PC

Step 13: Open the files and copy and save them to your desktop or usb drive. Use the Core_4TG file.

Step: 14 Open the Core_4TG file and you will have access to the tests. The will open in the test generator. A “Locate Testbanks” icon will appear. Click “No” The page should resemble this image for each individual test you open.

Step 15: To open your performance tests click on Performance Profile Sheet. This will open in PDF. (Adobe)
