Flight Descriptions and Requirements

Leadership Flight: The leadership flight’s primary goal is to give cadets enrolled an advanced understanding of leadership within the cadet program, to include drill & ceremonies performance, respect, and patriotism. No specific requirements.

Aerospace Flight: The aerospace flight’s primary goal is to give cadets enrolled an understanding of aerospace origins, history, and current usage, model aircraft flight, and model rocketry building. No specific requirements.

Flight Line Marshalling Flight: The flight line marshalling flight’s primary goal is to give cadets enrolled practical experience in marshalling aircraft and flight line operations as well as an FLM qualification during a simulated mission. Applicant must possess a CAPF 101 with GES, ICS 100, and ICS 700 as well as have an FLM SQTR prior to the first day of encampment. Must also complete the online CAPT 117-Part 2 as well as watch the CAP Ground Handling video prior to encampment. Your home squadron staff should be able to help you complete these objectives. Failure to complete these requirements prior to encampment will result in placement into either the Aerospace Flight or the Leadership Flight.

Basic Ground Team Flight (x 2): The basic ground team flight’s primary goal is to give cadets enrolled practical experience on a ground team and qualification as a GTM3 during a simulated mission. Applicant must possess a CAPF 101 with GES, ICS 100, and ICS 700 as well as have a GTM3 SQTR prior to the first day of encampment. Applicants must also complete the online CAPT 117-Part 1 prior to arrival. Your home squadron staff should be able to help you complete these objectives. Failure to complete these requirements prior to encampment will result in placement into either the Aerospace Flight or the Leadership Flight.

Advanced Ground Team Flight: The advanced ground team flight’s primary goal is to give cadets enrolled advanced practical experience on a ground team and qualification as a GTM2 or GTM1 during a simulated mission. Applicants must possess a CAPF 101 with GES, GTM3 or GTM2, ICS 100, and ICS 700 as well as have a GTM2 or GTM1 SQTR prior to the first day of encampment. Applicants must also complete the online CAPT 117-Part 1 prior to arrival. Your home squadron staff should be able to help you complete these objectives. Failure to complete these requirements prior to encampment will result in placement into one of the following flights at the discretion of the encampment staff: Aerospace, Leadership, or one of the Basic Ground Team Flights.

Ranger Flight: The Ranger Flight’s primary goal is to give cadets enrolled advanced practical experience on a ground team, as well as survival, woodsmanship, rope work, and a ranger grade as well as qualification as a GTM2 or GTM1 during a simulated mission. Applicants must have previously attended an encampment and possess a CAPF 101 with GES, GTM3 or GTM2, ICS 100, and ICS 700 as well as have a GTM2 or GTM1 SQTR and a signed copy of the Ranger Third Class SQTR agreement (on the reverse of the SQTR) prior to the first day of encampment. Applicants must also complete the online CAPT 117-Part 1 prior to arrival. Your home squadron staff should be able to help you complete these objectives. Failure to complete these requirements prior to encampment will result in placement into one of the following flights at the discretion of the encampment staff: Aerospace, Leadership, or one of the Basic Ground Team Flights.
