Scholarship Criteria:

* Applicant is either a SECU member or is eligible for membership through parent/guardian

* Senior who has beenaccepted to 1 of the 16 constituent UNC campuses

* US Citizen & NC Resident, & is eligible for in-state tuition

* Identifies a financial need as determined by submission of the FAFSA

* Demonstrated leadership, character, integrity, & community involvement

* 2.5 unweighted GPA or higher

* Will use the scholarship to pay for full-time undergraduate student tuition & fees.

* Agrees to continue at same university for up to 8 consecutive semesters

* Is not a Board Director, employee, or immediate family member of an employee of

State Employees’ Credit Union or the SECU Foundation

1. Completed Student Application and Essay (Fillable word document on NHS Guidance Website

* This document must be sent as a Word Document only. The document is macro enabled to allow SECU Foundation to import student data into our database directly.

* Please do not send this document as a PDF or Google Doc.

2. Copy of University Acceptance Letter to a UNC College

3. Photo of Student (head shot only)

4. A Brief Bio Written by applicant with Accomplishments and Awards noted

5. Signed Consent Form.

* Each recipient of the scholarship and their parent/guardian must sign the Consent Form to release their names and images for press releases to the local news media as well as within State Employee’s Credit Union and the SECU Foundation. In addition, both parents and student will be asked to submit their social security numbers on this Consent Form, to verify eligibility as an SECU member

- If you need anything scanned, just stop by Mrs. Searcy’s office! (The application itself must be e-mailed as a Word document)

- Please make sure to look for an e-mail confirmation of receipt of scholarship from Mrs. Searcy to make sure it has been received.
