Owner’s Comments:

“This Pace Car has been in the family since new. My brother-in-law bought it new in 1986 and I am very familiar with the history of this Corvette. It has never been in any accident or floods. Actually, it has been driven only about 1,300 miles yearly (average). This Pace Car has been pampered since day one.

Shortly after he took delivery, my brother-in-law wanted to improve the performance of the car. After much research, he decided that a Paxton supercharger was what he wanted and he found a very qualified engine builder in Phoenix.

SP Performance took the original engine and modified it for use with the Paxton. Just about $20,000 was spent on the engine modification. Obviously, this engine was built to a very high standard.

That engine still powers my Corvette today and the thrill of driving a 500 horsepower (estimated) convertible Corvette is --- well it’s hard to explain but I have this big grin on my face every time I drive it. The power is awesome and the Vette’s driveline and suspension is set up properly for a truly fantastic driving experience.

The engine, 4-speed transmission, and rear end are original from the factory. So the Vette is all numbers matching. Only the engine was modified. The rest of this Pace Car driveline is factory original.

Every control, gauge, and mechanism on the Vette is in good working order. One of the headlights does stick every once in awhile, but it does go up. The brakes and exhaust system are not new but they are in good condition.

The 5-spoke Corvette chrome wheels and BFG tires are like brand new. There are only 2,000 miles on the tires. Whoever buys this Corvette will be getting two extra sets of wheels. One set is MSW with Eagle tires mounted and the other set of wheels is the factory original. Both sets are like new.

I have the spare tire and jack and both are factory original. I also have some paperwork that my brother saved when he bought the car. The window sticker is part of the collection.

I was asked to rate the present condition of my Pace Car on a 10-high scale. Understand that I am extremely fussy about my Corvette. Yes, there are a couple of small paint chips but nothing I would be concerned about. The interior is excellent and shows very little wear.

Here are my ratings.

Paint finish 9

Driver seat 8.75 Passenger seat 9

Instrument panel/dashboard 10

Door panels (both) 8
