Event Venue :-Croydon Judo Centre, Morland Avenue, Croydon. CR0 6EA.
Entry Process :- Entry only by the Official Entry Form is permitted.
The Entry Fee is £20 per Kata entered Cheques should be made payable to ‘ BJA Southern Area’ and sent to Croydon Judo Centre, Morland Avenue, Croydon. CR0 6EA.
Closing Date for Entries Monday 9th October 2017 – Late Entries will not be accepted
•Overseas entrants please remit in GBP or Euro equivalent.
•‘PAY ON THE DAY’ will not be accepted.
•There is a Spectator Fee of £4 for Adults...... Children under 16 years free.
•Booking in will be at 09.00am for all entrants.
Kata :- The Kata recognised for these championships will be five:-
•Nage no Kata •Katame no Kata •Ju no Kata •Kime no Kata •KodokanGoshinJutsu
The Judges will evaluate these Kata on the basis of the official Kodokan Kata standard according and with reference to the official edition of Kodokan video (Only official amendment should be considered if any).
Eligibility :-All competitors must be the holder of a current Senior Membership Licence recognised by their National Federation and which must be produced on the day at booking in.
Entrants can be composed of either 2 males, 2 females or a male and a female and can only enter one Kata category once and reverse role entries are not permitted.
Participation :-Full Judogi standards apply for this event.
•White Judogionly(backnumbers are not compulsory, however any backnumber patch worn must be the official licenced EJU backnumber for Name & Country.
•Reversible suits are unacceptable.
•Traditional Kodokan Standards will be up held.
•Zori are part of the uniform and must be worn off the mat at all times.
•Only wooden weapons are acceptable and guns used must have the trigger guards removed.
Judging :- The competition will be Judged by IJF, EJU & BJA Qualified Kata Judges.
Each Kata will be evaluated by three (3) Judges under the supervision of the BJA National Kata Commission.
The judges will be positioned on the Shomen side and seated at about 1m apart.
The position of the three Judges will be the same for all the competition.
If a judge is replaced, he/she will return to their original place when they re-enter the competition.
A Judge cannot be a competitor.
Points Scoring System :- Each Judge will record points on the Official BJA scoring sheet.
Each technique is evaluated using the following method:
Opening & Closing protocols are marked with a maximum positive score out of 10.
For each technique the positive score is decreased according to the following mistakes:
•Small :- °Value of mistake – 1 °Maximum number of crosses - 2
•Medium :- °Value of mistake - 3 °Maximum number of crosses - 1
•Big :- °Value of mistake - 5 °Maximum number of crosses – 1
•Forgotten Technique :- ° Score for the technique - 0 °Total score of the Kata is halved
°If there are more than 1 forgotten techniques, the score of the technique is 0 but the total score will not be halved again. If the halved value is decimal, the score is rounded down.
A global evaluation of the Kata will be scored 0-10 according to Fluidity, Course & Rhythm. Right & Left hand techniques for Nage no Kata will be evaluated globally (only one score) In the case of equal score between couples the following criteria will be applied :-
Total value of Big mistakes – Less mistakes wins – If couples still have equal score then:
Total value of Medium mistakes – Less mistakes wins – If couples still have equal score then:
Total value of Small mistakes – Less mistakes wins – If couples still have equal score then:
The score for Fluidity, Course &Rhythm will decide – Couple with best score wins
Injury, Illness & Accident :-
If Tori or Uke is unable to continue because of Injury, illness or accident during the execution of the Kata, the couple will be considered out of the competition.
In case of Minor injury like a small bloody wound, broken nail or contact lens problem, according to the decision of the Judges, the Kata execution will be stopped and the athlete will be assisted with First Aid out of the competition area.
The competition will continue and the couple will be called to repeat the whole Kata as soon as possible after the last couple have competed.
Should a new minor injury occur to the same athletes during the second execution of Kata, the couple will be considered out of the competition.
In the case that a minor injury occurs after a forgotten technique, the couple will be considered out of the competition.
