National Honor Society Contract
As a member of the Western Alamance High School chapter of National Honor Society, I am fully aware that I am held to a high standard and that I am expected to uphold the qualities of character, scholarship, leadership, and service. I pledged to do so when I was inducted into National Honor Society. I understand that my actions reflect not only myself, but National Honor Society on the local and national scale, my school, and my community. I will conduct myself honorably and serve my peers, my school, and my community.

….exemplify character and set a positive example for my peers. When I am faced with a difficult situation, I will act with honesty and integrity rather than automatically following the easiest path. I will work diligently in whatever I pursue, and I will treat my peers and my superiors with the respect that they deserve. I will strive to maintain a positive attitude at all times, whether at school or in the community.
...exemplify scholarship by not just maintaining the required GPA but aiming to surpass it. I will challenge myself in my classes, and will perform all required work willingly and without prohibited assistance.
…exemplify leadership by following my own moral compass instead of merely following the crowd. If I hold a leadership position, I will devote my energy to improving my club or organization. I realize that leadership is a personal trait, and I will take responsibility for my own actions. Leadership can be developed by becoming an individual.
…exemplify service by performing the required number of community service hours. I understand that I may not use service hours that I am also using for other service clubs or organizations. I will serve the community in the spirit of philanthropy rather than with the goal of personal gain. The purpose of National Honor Society is to give back through community service, and I will not hesitate to offer my time and talents to serve others.
By signing this contract, I understand what is expected of me and agree to dutifully adhere to these guidelines. I understand that failing to uphold the aforementioned ideals will result in my probation from or my dismissal from National Honor Society. Being a member of National Honor Society is a privilege and honor reserved for a select few, and I will not tarnish the reputation of this organization through my actions.
