Nation’s Principals Gather in Baltimoreto Share Best Practices

K-8 conference will featuretop education experts, Teacher Leader and Community Service Day,andan address from U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan.

Alexandria, VA—June 21, 2013—Elementary and middle-level principals from around the nation will attend the National Association of Elementary School Principals’ (NAESP) Best Practices for Better Schools™ National Conference and Expo of the Year, July11-13 in Baltimore.The conference, which is the largest nationalmeeting focused on K-8 principals, will empower school leaders to better guide their schools, teachers, and students to success.

Highlights include the following:

Insight from Education Experts.Attendees will hearinspirational voices from the field of education: UMBC President Freeman Hrabowski, advocate for minority student success,andteacher-wellness expertAdam Sáenz. The best and brightest minds in education leadership—includingRobert Marzano, Todd C. NAESP Community Service Day.More than 100 volunteers will assemble at John Ruhrah Elementary/Middle School to build an inclusive playground—an event that Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake will attend (Wednesday, July 10, 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., 701 Rappolla St, Baltimore, MD 21224)

Jeans & Jerseys Fundraiser.This NAESP Foundation event to benefit student leadership programs will feature a book signing by New York Times best-selling author James Patterson, as well as live music, entertainment, and a silent auction. The annual conference, to be held in the Baltimore Convention Center, also features:

  • More than 100concurrent sessionson issues of critical importance to strengthening elementary and middle-level education;
  • A Green School Pavilion, home to information on topics ranging from sustainability techniques to student-led recycling programs; and
  • An Expo Hall, which features more than 150 top suppliers of innovative services and products for schools.
