DOG PARK VOLUNTEER APPLICATION

You must be at least 18 years old to volunteer at Nassau Humane Society Dog Park. While volunteering at the Dog Park is not working directly at the shelter or with shelter animals, the proceeds from the entry fees collected at the park go to keeping our shelter running. Your work here then becomes an indirect contribution and very much appreciated. Please print and return to the Dog Park Office or save and email to Lauren at One of our volunteers will contact you as quickly as possible. Thank you for considering volunteering for us.

The Dog Park is open 6 days a week. There are many duties that must be completed before, during, and after our hours of operation. This includes office time, discussing the park with potential new members or reenrolling existing members. However, you will see the majority of work is the upkeep of the park both inside and out. The owners coming into the park are responsible for their dogs and their dog’s behavior. Listed below are the positions and a small description. Your name would not be placed on the calendar alone until you feel you are ready. Weekends we look to have double coverage whenever possible...

·  Pool Cleaner: Vacuuming, clean the filters. Testing of the pools, and hosing of the pool apron.

·  Yard Cleaner: Closing -Pick up & clean the balls, & water buckets, empty the trash buckets, clean the pool filters.

·  Landscape: weeding, planting, edging

·  Bath Stations/Paths/and Building Cleanup: Hose, sweep then spray bleach at the bath stations.

·  Office Clean up/Stock up/Paperwork: vacuum, mop, clean the windows, and replenishing drinks. Enrollment of new and reenrollment of existing members, thank you letters, making copies.

Information about your availability, both days and hours, your preferences for a set shift or variable hours, is also appreciated. The availability table below should reflect the start time and finish time you are available each day. This would not be your work schedule. Most of the volunteers prefer a set day of the week and volunteer 3-4 hours a week. We also have folks that are able to fill in when they are in town so getting necessary time off of your set schedule is not a problem. Once we have this information we can then compare our needs to your availability.
