Narrator steps forward to speak while the rest of the team is setting up the scenery:

Hello everyone and welcome to our skit

We hope our performance will be a big hit.

We will take you through some interesting places.

By the end of our performance you will know the character’s faces.

With a few characters including two jocks

Our team is sure to blow off your socks!

The jocks are trying to find the legendary dream drums,

Just when they think the right time comes.

So let’s not waste anymore time

But we hope you enjoy our play in rhyme.

(The two jocks are chilling in their new car talking on their phones.)

Jock 1- Wow! The legendary Dream Drums are in an abandonedshack?!

Jock2- C’mon, let’s go check it out, and then we’ll come right back!

(They drive up to the nearest abandoned building.)

Nerd: Your ideas must direct you to a good destination.

(the two jocks turn around )

Jock 2: You?!

Nerd: I was just thinking you’re going into a bad situation.

Jock1- Hey.Please, don’t start talking when you don’t have to.

Nerd: (nervously) uh.. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to upset you.

I’ll keep my intelligence in my own brainy head .

Jock2- I’m not sure I understood what you just said,

but you canhelp by just keeping your eyes peeled.

Nerd- OK…I suppose my lips are sealed.

Jock 1- Look at all those abandoned buildings, Shawn.

Let’s check this one out quickly and then move on.

We’ll search for those Dream Drums here

Hopefully they have not disappeared.

(The 2 kids go inside building, and the nerd is too scared, so he stays behind.)

Jock1- Hey this old fallen down buildinghas all of this.

(Jock 1 points to all the beautiful paintings by John Olsen,)

Jock2- and look how hard all these words are… JohhhnnnnOlllllssssennnnnn it’s not a bliss

Jock 1- Look at this one… Is that a frog or a toad?

(looks at a painting)

Jock 2- I think it looks more like a curved, green road.

( hear rat-a-tat-tat rat-a-tat-tat)

Jock2- Did you hear that tapping sound?

Jock 1- I think so….. should we turn around?

( rat-a-tat-tat )

Jock 2-oh… listen….(rat a tat tat)There it is again!

Jock 1- I think it’s coming from that painting which now looks like Spain

(jocks run to city painting)

(rat-a-tat-tat)

(jocks lean in to hear better and…..

Rat-a-tat-tat AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!( Jocks fall into the painting. )

Paintbrushes-Well, well, well! Good day you two mates

Fringie-May we welcome you to ourland of no hates!

Polkadottie-We saw you talkingabout this world in which we live

Honestly fellows, we have no more clues to give.

We are in a painting and that can be whatever you want.

From a city to a frog or even a croissant.

Jock2- Where are we, and why is your hair in a frizz?

Duh…This is the most confusing thing there is.

Fringie- Is there something wrong with my hair?

I thought I had added plenty of flare.

Polkadotie- You are looking at John Olsen’s worn down art tools.

Let me introduce you to these painting jewels.

Fringie- Hey, you must meet another friend of ours.

This is lil’lnubs , and she is not pretty like flowers.

Lil’l nubs is a pencil that is all worn down.

Our artist, Mr. Olson, used her tip to draw all around.

Lil’l nubs – Hello, hello, hello….nice to meet you boys

There is not much left of me, but I still make lots of noise.

Loud or soft sounds, it doesn’t matter to me,

Spinning and drawing, drawing and spinning, do you see!

Jock1- Hey, …this art is just too hard to understand.

And now I feel like we have discovered new land.

Jock2-yah…I feel the same way upon arriving in this place,

My head is spinning like I am out in space.

Paintbrushes-Do you two really know the true meaning of art?

It’s an inspiration, a feeling that comes from the heart.

It’s a song, it’s a dance, it’s a masterpiece of talent.

Art belongs in our world. It is a sort of accent.

Jock 1- Finding talking paintbrushes and a stubby pencil too

This was not part of our mission, what are we going to do?

Jock 2- Falling into a painting has given me a headache,

Maybe we should just take aitty, bitty break.

Paintbrushes: Hey, let us show you what we mean

Sit back guys and enjoy the scence.
