‘Tony McNally’ B.A. (Hons) Music Education, Diploma in Light Music, majoring in Percussion and Composition, Advanced Skills Teacher (Music)

Tony McNally is a musician and educator. He was brought up into a musical family and toured the UK performing the workingmen’s clubs from the tender age of 8, playing 2 or more gigs per week with his family show ‘Mike Mason & The Little People”. Way before the ‘X Factor’ and ‘BGT’ were conceived, he fronted the band singing ‘Nobody’s Child’ on UKTV’s ‘Opportunity Knocks’, winning by audience ‘Clapometer’ and releasing his first vinyl record at the age of 12. In recognition of his skills as a drum soloist, Tony won a National Award as ‘Best Undiscovered British Drummer’ 1990-92.

It was whilst preparingfor this ‘drum solo competition’ 27 years ago, that heinvented his first designs.ToneAllyproducts train your drum stroke to follow the correct trajectory, something that would normally take many years of practice to develop. It is for all who wish to maximise their learning of stick control. They are manufactured close to Tony’s hometown of Jarrow, in the North East of England.

Two designs are currently available:

Design 1

The ToneAllyDesign 1 has a solid base. It is totally portable, stands free on a desk, can be clamped to a stand, and sitswonderfully on any standard 14” or 13” snare drum.A great piece of kit to improve your technique.

“I like it!” Thomas Lang

“I can say with absolute satisfaction that I've noticed a difference already in my stick control and rudiments. It's brilliant!!!”

Seamus O'Doherty, Drummer, UK

“Wow! It's good for your discipline.A great way to channel your stick heights and line of stroke.I've had mine on the kit less than an hour and already I LOVE it!”

Craig Blundell

Best drum clinician 2017, Rhythm Magazine, UK

Design 5

The ToneAllyDesign 5, has a removable strike pad area to allow the tip of the stick to strike the drumhead (or other surface below). So it can be used in “basic mode” exactly like Design 1, but really comes into its own when used on an actual drum with the strike pad removed. The removable section allows you to perform normal strokes on the playing surface, with the ‘Allys’ guiding your sticks effortlessly while you focus on rhythm, accuracy, or speed.

An ideal way to warm up for any drummer.

Product Features

What is noticeable on first appearance is itsunique vertical structure, which is wholly unlike the multitude of horizontal practice pads which have gone before. Each ToneAllyhas 4 separate ‘Allys’ to accommodate the various ‘hand-grip’ positions such as ‘matched’ and ‘traditional’ and for both left-handed and right-handed players alike.Choose the ‘Allys’that are best suited and the most comfortable for your preferred grip, and get started. With the trajectory of the stick being taken care of by the device, you can practise using the correct muscle groups straight away. This is something that would normally take many years of practice and study to develop and understand. This is a teaching tool for all who wish to maximise their learning of stick control.

Selected for its ‘Tone’, the neat 80x40xmm playing surface is hand-selected neoprene rubber, enabling you to feel and hear every note. The modest size of the strike pad gives a clear indication of how accurate the trainer guides you to be.

ToneAllyproducts have received fantastic feedback since launching in the UK in September 2017. They were recently featured inthe ‘Hot Gear’ pages of Rhythm magazine, December issue 275, UK.

"I can't believe there hasn't been anything like this on the market before. It's exactly what drummers need!"

Alex Holmes, Drummer, UK

"Absolutely superb product. Bought one at the 2017 London Drum Show and I’m now using it everyday both for myself and my students here at Repercussion Drum School. Great to meet the team behind the product and I wish you every success with it"

IanFereday, Drum Tutor, UK

“Here are three of my thoughts on your pad;

1. This is an excellent training aid, ideal for addressing existing issues or just promoting good habits.

2. Bad sticking technique can have long term health implications, and when you get there, it's too late.

3.This promotes efficient stick movement, resulting in less wasted energy, ultimately giving the player a higher dynamic range!”

Doug Jenkinson, Drum Teacher, UK

“TheToneAlly has made a massive difference to my drumming already. If anyone needs a present for a drummer then look no further. It’s amazing how quickly it has a positive impact on your playing. Brilliant!”

Danny Allinson, Director/Drummer, Apollo Arts, UK

"I haven't played for a while and always wanted to play traditional grip. When I saw that ToneAllywas good enough for Thomas Lang and Craig Blundell, I decided it wasgood enough for me. It makes it so easy!"

Dr Ron Lawson, Co. Durham, UK
