Course Description: Seventh Grade Social Studies will provide an in depth and integrated preparation for Tenth Grade World History. The class will focus of world history from early civilizations to the 1500’s A.D., with a strong focus on historical perspective; students will understand the importance of geography on where civilizations began and how they grew. Students will explore the emergence of different cultures and societies and how government systems and economic systems evolved.

Grading Policy: Grades will be determined by using a point system. Points will be awarded for reading progress, literary projects, journal writing, portfolio pieces, grammar activities, and various projects in keyboarding. Student grades will be reflective of the following grading scale:
99 - 100 A+ 80 – 82 C+
96 - 98 A 76 - 79 C
93 - 95 A- 73 - 75 C-
90 - 92 B+ 70 - 72 D+
86 - 89 B 66 - 69 D
83 - 85 B- 63 - 65 D-
62 – below F
Performance Standards and Expectations:
Students will be able to identify the reasons that people migrate, as well as the causes of those migrations. They will also be able to see how improvements in technology throughout history have aided life in the areas of farming, settlement and war.
