#1 Which of the following internships is your top choice? WHY?

My first choice is…………………..because…………thisis an altruistic internship set up specifically for the benefit of the intern instead of an exploitative internship that is set up primarily to benefit the company with free labor from interns. In this internship, qualified professionals will take the time to mentor me and share their knowledge in a nurturing environment that will allow me to gain some hands-on experience in the real world instead of my performing primarily menial tasks with no opportunity for networking with other professionals on the job.

What are your chances of landing this 1st choice internship? WHY?

Chances are slim because many people apply and they only select the best…..maybe 2 out of 100 applicants. It also seems as if students who have connections to people in the industry, i.e., relatives and friends, get preferential treatment. At this time in my career, I have no such connections so I don’t think my chances are very good.

#2 Which of the following internships is your second choice? WHY?

Capitol Records – because it has the recognizable name and credibility in the industry. The internship duties of office work and studio maintenance are not as exciting as my first choice which would provide me with more hands-on experience and networking opportunities, so if I am fortunate enough to get on at my first choice, then I will take that internship. If not, then I’ll go with this one. I could definitely get more “hands-on” experience at a smaller company, but I’d rather have the recognizable name and reference from a big company like Capitol.

What are your chances of landing this 2nd choice internship? WHY?

Pretty good because they accept over 50 interns a semester on a first-come, first-serve basis and I was one of the first to apply, so I think I have a good chance.

#3 Which of the following internships is your3rd choice? WHY?

My third choice is…………………..because…………it has the recognizable name and credibility in the industry.
