Aloha Mai Na ‘Ohana,

Over 200 years ago, our legacy had its beginnings, and through often interesting, challenging, and romantic history our Lindsey roots are intricately embedded in Europe and Hawai’i. Over the years we have grown into a family with relatives spanning the world over, a truly remarkable, respectful, and spirited accomplishment. And though our lives spread far and wide, there is one common thread that runs through all of us: we are the Lindsey ‘Ohana. Just as our ancestors paved the paths for us to be who we are, so too, must we pave the paths for our future generations. The world is changing, and our lives continue to change. But there is one thing that remains constant, and that is we are all family. Our Lindsey legacy is one that we can be proud of and one that we need to continue for many more generations to come.

We are very excited to be in the beginning stages of planning our next family reunion, and we would like for you to mark your calendars to be here in Waimea in 2006! Our reunion will be held on Friday, August 25, 2006 through Sunday, August 27, 2006. We will have activities planned throughout the weekend, and those details will be forthcoming very soon. At this time we are able to share with you that our weekend will begin on Friday, 8/25, by paying tribute to our ancestors at a Memorial Service in Waimea at 5pm. We would like all of us to come and reflect on our Lindsey legacy, show our respect, our responsibility, and our reverence before we begin our celebration as the Lindsey ‘Ohana. Following this memorable tribute, we have a Paniolo Dinner and entertaining evening planned for all! On Saturday, 8/26, there will be a variety of activities planned throughout the day and those details are coming soon. Picture-Taking will begin at 4:30pm, along with our Happy Hour or Two. A beautiful luau with promising entertainment will highlight our Saturday evening. On Sunday, 8/27, we are planning a Fun Day in the Park with fun and games for the entire family, young and old. A luncheon will follow with our annual meeting to wrap things up. It will be an exciting weekend, and we look forward to you all coming out and celebrating our Lindsey ‘Ohana and legacy!

We are pleased to have so many of you willing to help in this endeavor, and we look forward to an exciting and memorable weekend together. Heading our committees and planning for this special reunion weekend are the following individuals:

Our next Reunion Planning Committee meeting will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2006 at Quintin and Teri Chong’s home in Waimea, beginning at 9am. The purpose of this meeting is to hear updates from all of the committee chairpersons so that we may then publish this information for all family members. Please call or email us if you plan on attending.

As we reflect on what our first Lindsey ‘Ohana members must have felt within themselves as they ventured out to new lands and new beginnings, we cannot help but feel the same as we begin to plan a festive and memorable weekend for all of you. And as we continue to move forward in our planning, we are humbled by the many encouraging words and helping hands that have come our way already. Thank you for allowing us this opportunity to learn about our legacy, plan a great and memorable Lindsey Reunion 2006 to celebrate who we all are, and to share and help navigate our future as Lindseys.

Aloha & Malama Pono,

Jasmine Malo Paresa & Teri Kimura Chong
