Nissan 240/180 SX S13

Front Frame Stiffener/Repair Set

Your kit should include:

·  1 Xcessive Designed, welded in frame section

(Driver & Passenger side)

Instructions

  1. Put the front of the vehicle on jack stands to allow access to the frame section requiring work, be sure the vehicle is stable, some work may require force to the frame for fitment.

2.  Depending on the chassis and options the car is equipped with, you may need to unbolt brackets from the frame to allow the new frame section to fit over. We have tried to accommodate most brackets and conditions but the new frame sections may require alterations to allow all the stock brackets to be reused.

3.  Fuel and hydraulic lines (HICUS) will need to be moved away from areas to be welded, DON”T TAKE THIS LIGHTLY!!!

  1. Your new frame section is designed to be a snug fit over the stock frame. Any damage to the frame that has changed the shape of the original design will need to be modified back as close to original as possible so the new frame section will fit over. This is where a nice hammer might be helpful.
  2. The stock frame also has overlapping sections that may require flattening to fit the new frame section and removal of any factory sealant putty that may inhibit the fit of the new frame section.
  3. Using the new frame section as fit gage, slide it on and off the frame until it fits cleanly and snug as far up as possible. The bottom panel of the new section should fit against the stock frame at the front and rear edges.
  4. Once fit is established, note the areas on the stock chassis to grind/remove all debris, undercoating or paint to expose clean metal. Clean under the edges where the new frame section will cover as well as the exposed sheet metal, approximately 1” to both side of the weld area. This is to help keep burning material to a minimum and aid in a clean weld. The more thorough you clean the area to be welded, the better the welds will be .
  5. We recommended tacking the front and rear edges first to keep the new section up as tight as possible, then clamping and tacking the upper edges. The heavy gage steel of the new frame section will allow you to focus the heat from the welder on the new steel and direct the heat over to the thinner stock sheet metal to aid with not blowing holes in the stock metal.
  6. After welding, we recommend coating the new section with a rubberized undercoating or chassis paint to inhibit rust.
  7. Once your undercoat/paint is dry, you can bolt up any brackets you had to remove for the repair.

Advantages of the Xcessive Frame rail.

  1. Heavy gage steel protects and stiffens the stock frame.
  2. Saves you from having to throw away your car because of a rusted out frame rail!
  3. Stronger than stock for lifting with jacks.
