N.E.T. or Netting Excellent Teachers is a program designed to mobilize all to the Darlington County School District (DCSD) employees to actively recruit new teachers to join our ranks. Effective January 1, 2008, any district employee, beyond those individuals noted as follows, who recruits a certified teacher (1) who is hired by the district and (2) remains in our employ until the conclusion of the school year, will receive a $100.00 bonus in June as a recruitment reward. Four district employees will be ineligible to participate in the program given the nature of their job responsibilities and their access to prospective applicants: (1) the Superintendent, (2) the Director of Human Resources, (3) the Coordinator of Recruitment, Retention, and Evaluation, and (4) the Administrative Assistant to the Coordinator of Recruitment, Retention, and Evaluation. Otherwise, all certified and classified employees are eligible for the recruitment incentive award.

Once a DCSD employee makes contact with a potential hire and verifies that the individual has completed an application on-line or has sent an application directly to Department of Human Resources, he/she should complete a N.E.T. REFERRAL FORM (which will be posted on the DCSD website) and then send the completed form to the Department of Human Resources, attention: Recruiter. This provides a record of the contact prior to the actual decision to hire. If the employee is eventually hired, the “new hire” will be asked to verify the initial contact; once verified, the individual will be tapped to receive an additional $100.00 in his/her paycheck at the conclusion of the school year.

In the event of a dispute regarding who made the initial contact, the “new hire” will be asked to identify the person who (1) made the first contact and (2) encouraged them to complete an application. Simple contact is not enough, the recruiter must encourage them to complete an application with the district, as well. This is a two-part criteria which generally requires some follow-up on the part of the “recruiter”. It is also in the interest of the recruiter to help insure that the new employee enjoys a successful first year.
