MyRRU for Students Requirements v1.2

As a student I should be able to:

As a site editor I should be able to:

  • Do everything a student can do
  • Change ownership of groups
  • Edit all page content on the site
  • Edit navigation links
  • Moderate student event submissions

Features in MyRRU for Faculty to keep in MyRRU for Students:

  • Groups (similar to MyRRU for Faculty)
  • Example: students over 65
  • Would include functionality for group members such as
  • Blogs
  • Forums
  • Wikis
  • Video block
  • Already created on the MyRRU for Faculty site… Will keep it as is unless told differently.
  • Site wide events
  • Include date (as opposed to adding to the title of the event)
  • Show 4-5 events on the front page
  • Blogs
  • Link to student blogs on external sites (as opposed to creating a blog on the site)

-Disabled “My Blogs” in secondary menu (above header).

-Removed “My Blogs” from the “My Profile” block.

  • Profiles – fields would be optional
  • Events (no calendar block though)
  • Look and feel (www theme)
  • Featured Profile (ULife to be able tag profiles to determine whether they show up as featured)

Features in MyRRU for Faculty that need to be altered for MyRRU for Students:

  • Remove tag cloud block - Disabled
  • Groups
  • Remove “closed” group option for students
  • Remove “What’s New” block - Disabled
  • Remove “What’s Popular” block - Disabled
  • Move login block to the groups page; add a link on the front page to it.

Features from current MyRRU site that need to be incorporated into MyRRU for Students:

  • Keep left navigation of current MyRRU site
  • Important notices
  • Have dates associated with notices for when to show it and when to remove it
  • RoadSpiel news on the front page
  • RoadSpiel would be an aggregated RSS feed (since RoadSpiel wouldn’t be part of this project)
  • Job posts – like for like
  • Design w/ idea that it may be superseded by separate job postings site

Wireframe Notes

  • Add links to left navigation for convocation and alumni
  • Login block would only be on the Groups page (since the rest of the site content would be accessible to the general public)
  • Keep the feedback block; text could be shortened
  • Remove the event calendar block (no one uses it on the current MyRRU site)
  • In the new site a different place for My Account and My Academics should be found (most people don’t pay attention to the links at the top of the page on the current MyRRU site)
