Workshops - Yuna

·  Aesthetic way of knowing workshop: Tacking Racism in Health Care – MUNSS

·  Thursday, October 19th 9am-12pm, 1-4pm 2J13 School of Nursing, McMaster University

National Conference Information and Charity Fundraiser – Josh CNSA

·  Charity fundraiser- people auction off nursing stuff, for example, extra nursing welcome week stuff, asked Jess and Erin

Yuna

Would people be interested in an inter-faculty amazing race

Kevin: Faculty Family Feud?

Josh: Need to understand what it means to be a nursing, social science, humanities student

Kevin: Questions can be about the stereotypes of the different faculties

Holly: Needs to be something active

Jessica: Sporting events such as “Nursing Games” with mixed faculty groups, social after

Taissa: Altitude climbing tower half or full day, before it gets too cold

Horizons Donation ($300) – Formal Discussion and Motion - Yuna

·  Yuna explains what Horizons is

·  From $1000 allocated in budget for donations

·  $300 donation would give us a silver platform which would give us:

a.  Medium (half-page) advertisement in conference manual

b.  Regular size logo on conference t-shirt

c.  Regular size logo on the Horizons 2013 website

·  Erin: Is it going to be beneficial to nursing students if only 11 students out of 150 students attend?

·  Mohawk and Conestoga students?

·  Kevin: what is Horizons and how would the nursing students specifically benefit from our donations?

·  Kornelia: Faculty specific tours, resources, talk about their courses, get exposed to other faculties, develop to be a leader at McMaster, advice on how to study, etc.

·  Yuna: Food, accommodation, altitude, activities included in $120 cost

·  Josh: How would this benefit the college sites?

Pinning Ceremony

Marisa: Pinning – Venue booked, need to be ontop of things. Do we want level 3s to plan pinning? No, we do not. But, they can help during the ceremony and fundraising if there are not enough grad committee members

Beth: Agrees so it is an easier transition

Maja: Where is the venue?

Marisa: Hamilton Convention Centre

Bowie: Integrate other levels to help

Marisa: Level 4s do planning and decorating, but would need additional help with selling and other responsibilities, also giving pointers to level 3s on how to plan the event for their year

Kevin: What if the level 3 representatives change?

Marisa: None of these MUNSS roles/reps are optional. Even help for a small amount of time it is very helpful

Dianne: Faculty ended up helping level 4s, but getting level 3s to help would be very helpful with level 4s busy schedule

Marisa: Meeting with Cynthia to start the planning very early this year. Meetings and bookings early

Holly: Other members would like to help out as well so post on Facebook or MUNSS website

Yuna: Graduation Committee open to everyone

Bowie – Midterm Review Session with Dr. Heli

·  Sell pizza to fundraise for Relay for Life

·  Last year: Bring your own questions, and he will answer them

·  Brainstorming on how to run session

Level 4 Budget - Marisa

·  Formal at Carmen’s every year, this year it is at Leona Station on James Street

·  Lots of parking

·  Busses for McMaster and Conestoga

·  Minimum 180 guests and maximum 280 guests

·  Podium and stage

·  Menu shown - $45 for soup, salad, main course and dessert

·  Only charge per plate of food, but it is a bit more expensive than Carmen’s

·  $12,000 – Carmen’s

·  $ 8,100 – Leona Station + bartending fees, 2 bottles of wine on each table, busses and DJ

·  Cost per ticket = $55, last year $50

·  Budget shown – Marisa explains

·  McMaster CIBC Hall for Career Fair, vendors pay around $350-$450 to come

·  Would also want a career fair to happen at Conestoga, vendors would pay a cheater price to set-up

·  Nursing sweaters last year were great – describes design, $50-$60 each

·  Resume workshop at Conestoga on Wednesday, October 9
