SPECIFICATION MANAGER

JOB DESCRIPTION

Munoz & Company is looking for an experienced Specification Manager who can facilitate the successful delivery of exciting and meaningful design by our project teams. The capacity and continual thirst for knowledge and research should enlighten the candidate to help us achieve the functional and aesthetic creativity and to which we aspire. The position will entail coordinating, developing and managing the delivery of project manuals and specifications, providing quality control support for our professional staff, coordinating with consultants, providing research and evaluation of materials and products, maintaining and updating the currency of office specifications, facilitating internal learning, and maintaining up to date technical resources in-house. You will work with a dedicated administrative assistant for production support, collaborate with the individual project teams, and be under the principal-in-charge of technical resources.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Candidates should have

-A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Building Construction or Project Management from an accredited school with5years’ experience as a specification writer or writing specifications for projects in a professional architectural firm or as an independent consultant.

-In lieu of degree, a minimum 7 years’ experience writing project specifications for a licensed architectural firm or as a consultant.

-Current ProfessionalLicensing in the State of Texas beneficial but not required.

-Understanding of 3 part CSI MasterFormat, specification writing process, formats and language.

-CSI certification and LEED accreditation not required but a plus.

-Proficiency in MS Office: Word, Excel, Access.

-Willingness to work with AIA MasterSpec libraries. Experience with equivalent libraries or systems.

-Experience with writing specification narratives, outline specs, full language specifications and managing assembly of specification manuals.

-Experience producing Division 0 documents and Division 1 specifications, with working knowledge of AIA contracts and producing front ends for various project delivery systems.

-Experience with writing specifications for multi-story steel and concrete framed commercial and public projects.

-Detail orientation with strong verbal and written communication skills, and ability to write clearly, concisely, and without misunderstanding.

-Experience in collaborating with project managers and managing multiple ongoing projects, providing supplemental product research, working with administrative support staff to produce project manuals, meeting with vendors and organizing firm technical information resources.

-A working knowledge of current building codes and industry standards, including sustainability principles, and current construction technology.

Candidates should be able to provide a sample specification project manual that the candidate has managed and produced.
