Annual Data Collection and Paperwork

  1. 2016-2017 SEFEL Yearly Program Review is due by June 30, 2017 –Leadership Teams should complete this document via the ELN/SEFEL Online System ( Leadership teams began completing Yearly Program Reviews during the SEFEL Summit 2017. Please be sure to go back in the system and complete the Yearly Program Review before the June 30 deadline. The SEFEL Practice Profile can help to guide your scoring of the Yearly Program Review. The SEFEL Practice Profile is on the ELN website here:
  1. All 2016-2017 TPOT scores are due by June 30, 2017 – Coaches/Observers should enter TPOT scores into the ELN/SEFEL Online System (
  1. 2016-2017 TS GOLD Growth Reports are due by June 30. 2017 – Those SEFEL Sites using TS GOLD should email their growth reports to . Instructions for growth reports are at this link -- TS-Gold Instructions

Only data from classrooms with teachers who have received a proficient score (80% or above) on the online curriculum reliability measure for TS GOLD should be included in the growth report.

  1. 2017-2018 SEFEL Program Implementation Planand draft 2017-2018 SEFEL Spending Plan are due by June 30, 2017 –The draft 2017-2018 SEFEL Spending Plan should be emailed to ursement amounts will not be determined until late August/early September, so we will let you know at that time if we had to adjust your spending plans.The 2017-2018 SEFEL Program Implementation Plan will be available to be completed via the ELN/SEFEL Online System in May. We will send instructions for completing the SEFEL Implementation Plan once it is available online. In the meantime, the paper version of the SEFEL Program Implementation Plan is on the ELN website here:

Upcoming Professional Development Events

Mindful Coaching Training - for new coaches who have not previously attended Mindful Coaching Training. Due to high demand, we are offering this training in the summer and fall of 2017. To get an idea of the content and format for this training, see the agenda from last year at this link:

  • June 12-13, 2017 in Burlington–The training announcement and registration information was emailed to SEFEL leadership contacts on March 28.
  • September 28-29, 2017 in Burlington – The training announcement and registration information will be emailed to SEFEL leadership contacts in summer 2017.

MTSS/SEFEL Tier II Train-the-Trainer Event – for professionals who will train others locally on the second tier of supports of the pyramid model for emotional and social development. The purpose of this event is to help local professional development providers deliver content to teaching staff to address strategies for defining and collecting and analyzing data on persistent challenging behavior, making decisions about Tier II targeted instructional practices and other supports, and monitoring progress to determine next steps. Due to high demand, we are offering this training in the summer and fall of 2017.

Teaching Pyramid Observation Tool (TPOT) Training – October 16-17, 2017 in Burlington –for SEFEL coaches to learn how to properly administer the TPOT by conducting the classroom observation, completing the teacher interview, and scoring the TPOT.

Practice-Based Coaching Using the Teaching Pyramid Observation Tool (TPOT) – December 14-15, 2017 in Burlington – for SEFEL coaches who have already attended the Mindful Coaching and TPOT trainings so that they can learn how to provide effective coaching support using information from the TPOT observation and discussion.To get an idea of the content and format for this training, see the agenda from last year at this link:

Annual SEFEL Leadership Summit – January 10-11, 2018 – for SEFEL Leadership teamsto receive content and materials to support Leadership Teams and coaches with planning, implementation, evaluation, and collaboration.To get an idea of the content and format for this training, see the agenda from the February 2017 SEFEL Leadership Summit at this link:

Regional Coaches’ Meetings – Spring 2018 –for current and future SEFEL coaches to help improve their observation, scoring and coaching skills and to provide resources and ideas for coaching through networking with other SEFEL sites. The meetings are held in four different regions so that coaches can attend at a venue that is geographically convenient for them.

Safety First (Part I) Train-the-Trainer Event – Spring 2018 –for coaches and other trainers of classroom teachers. This event will include prevention strategies for responding to potentially dangerous behavior along with supplemental content developed specifically for our SEFEL coaches/trainers to support them as they discuss Safety First and train others in their local programs. Participants will have the tools and talking points they need to provide Part I of the Safety First training (prevention/ de-escalation strategies) to teaching staff in their local programs.
